The Church in Wales ts govemed by ts Consb'tution, set up section 13{1) of the
Welsh Church Acts 1914, as amended from time to ts.me by its Cthieming W. The MAC
is not a body corForaie. Its ccMnp)sition, prcKedures and kN)weTS are regulated by the
Constitution, vdhich provides that tefore assuming office, every MeM￿r musi sign
declaration that he OT she will t* tKJund ty Ihe Conslitulirm.

The Constitution provides that the members of the MAC shall ￿.. The Mission Area Leader,
Vicars and thistsnt Curates. Church Wardens, one aptxy'nted ￿ the Mission Area
Leader and one elected at the Annual Vestry Meeting {AVMI; two Sub-wardens for each
Church where there is more than one thurch in the Mission Area. one apwinted by the
Incumbent and one elerted at the AVM; Up to 25 lay ￿MberS elerted at the AVM; c
opted Secretsry and Treasltrer (if not already eK-officio or elected). and up to 7 further
Co-opted meM￿rs. Lay. communkant pe￿OnS over the age of 16 may be entered on an
Elertoral Roll (subjert to certain C￿dI￿"0nsI aThJ all such ￿rs￿5, so entered, are entitled
to vote and to stand for deLt"cfi.
OBJEcfivES, AcfivITIES AND PUBUC BENEFIT
As requlred by the Charities ki 2011, the MAC has given the regard to guidan
published by the Charity Commission in respect of the OFerat￿n of the public benefit
requirement. The actiWt￿S undertsken to fulfil the MAC5 public benefit
are described and detsileo hereunder. The Church in Wales s o Province wlthin the
Anglican Communion and seeks to adVa￿e the Christsan religion through wY)rld.wide
missitin. It is the resp)nsibility of the MAC and the Misgon Area Leader to work together
and co-OFerate In all matters ol concem and imFortsnce to the Mission Area for the
promotron of ihe rnission of the Church, pastoral, evangelistsc, scoal ar¥J ecumenical In
the Mission A￿. The MAC is re¥owble, inter-alia, for the parothial bLtdget and all
expenditure thereunder, the care antl maintenance of Churth fabric and of the
Churthyards, and for any action ¢y other matter referred to it in accordan￿ with the
constitub.on and is the normal than￿1 of communicatic￿ between parlshicfflets and the
Dic(esan Bistw.

ACHIEVEMENTS AND PERFORMANCE
The'y Ffordd, Service has been very successful this year and has al￿ been delivered In
int with a growing congregat￿. Both of these serwos are to eKourage new
invcAvement by peO￿e usuolty cfi the margins of thurth and tKJth have tten very
Suc￿sSful during 2023.
Both the 55+ aub at Brynford and the Friday Friends dub at Ysceificq v￿e able to meet
tcgether this year and tM)th have committed memtwthp who meet regularty monthly to
help with sodal ise4ation.

church on Sunday to come and tske part. This is o growng group and has conts'nued to

spedal Coronatbon Event on 6th Mav.
In April, 2023 we emplo￿￿ è new part b'me Y￿th aThJ Childm s wker and In
September as a MISSI￿ Area, we launched ts¥o r*w Messy th￿rd￿, one in Ysceific¥J and
one in Whitford. ys￿lf￿ has had varied al￿dan￿, with a core gr￿p of 6 families. ènd
Whltford has had over 60 children and adults at orfe. The Chr15tmas Messy Churthes
were very %5*11 attended.
We are looking fonyard lo doing MO￿ fr)int Messy projerts, ￿ Messy Extras, in the
Summer we launched our first'Big Picnic" al Wepre Park, and we will be doir4J a "Me55y
Walk" at Lttyjgerheads th55 &ister.

In the workshops she has teen using a muID.disci￿Inary appro￿h ￿anIng on emotional
literacy skilFs, spiritual awareness and con￿lauS connect￿$ with a hi9her power, this has
been welcomed by the sch￿15. Lixwm sthcd will ￿ visiting Y￿lf￿9 this March as part of

ndows and the west wndow. 2023 has an excitsno year for ihe Hoiywell Church
Group and Mission Hub and have ￿'9ger plans for the cc*i7ing year.

by a Youth and Children s Worker.
We have weekty chap4aincies in Ysgj Mae5gks, Ysgd y Felin and Holywell High

We hold Hub aubs in each sch¢x4 holklays, and we have seen ￿r group
grow from a small handful of 11-18 year olds to IS.

Towards the end of 2023. Revd ArKlrea De Vaal was apwnted as our new ￿0fieer priest

their faith.

charities and gcd causes. An extraordinary am￿nt of pastwal care Is carried IMJt by
member5 of the congregatW5, quietly and in the backgr(yJnd. This Is or* of the great
successes of our churches. It is almost compleiely unseen even vthen il ￿ In fvll view (for

reserves and struggles to meet its obligations. bul fflust commended for the
contributton that It has continved to make year on year. St Paul, RIM)se5mor has some
reserves tyjt these are rap￿￿ being depleted as are those at St Mary the Virgin. Hal

of income.
In tems of Finan￿, ￿ngle cost is the Share, ￿TKe all our in￿￿e
generally gees on covering cwr wnning costs the Share (for Rhosesnhy and Halkyn, at
least) C￿e5 from Yes￿, whith 15 rnt gjstsinatde.
A number of role5 on the Church Committees are proving challenging ￿ fill. particularly at
Rhes y Cae. We are very grateful to everyone contribu*5 to these CLNnmiLtees.
Generally, the churches are in gcoj condition, but we need to keep ffl top of
maintenance. We are very graieful to everyone involved wth the maintenan￿. deaning
and tspeclally wth ensuring ￿Jr churches c(mb"nue to hJnCti(￿.

Revd Kathryn Hall pned us as ow curaie. and has natsjrally fitted into ￿MMunity life,
taking on a fundamentally pastoral ministsy, t#)th tecause She is a Deacon, and because
she Is who she is, Kathryn has contribjted to the M¢Xhe¢s Union, baptssms. the handt)dl
ringers, the Lent cOu￿e and all of our regular life and worship.
We hope to build a pastoral team In the cuning year. Vle have (￿luC￿l 62 funerals and
28 baptisms since the annual vestry last year, as well as the Joy of 4 candkjates teing
confirmed.

The reordering of St Mary's has teen decid&J, but wcgres5 has been
frustratingty slow. We are awaitirwj a deci9(￿ on design.

Grant support from the k*tery ha5 enatw St Thomas. to have a gJpert>
makeover. It rrf)w looks fresh and ne4V, while maintsining its mvch-loved
character, the church is also ab￿ io be a hub for the (ommunity.
The Well-Fed community shop ￿ Wedwlay and the fitress dass (Y coffee
m￿ning, ￿ace the church in the heart of Village life. A creative aPLwoach to
ial ar￿ fundraising evenis, hove provided è number of memoratAe events,
and they have also, aloTrJside ihe generimjs 5UPWrt of members, enabled the

During the year we have worked ￿ tightening our organisational pr¢XedU￿ and
increasing our (￿Mmunication links. We are intentionally wthing to te able to set budgets
and have doser ￿￿nit￿"n9 of finanaal infomlabm.
We have had new membws of the team ￿"n us and add to the variety of misgonal and
faith based acknvitses across Mlsston Area. We have seen Indwiduals and groups
develop and have enjoyed a tsme of cohesive wgcM)ary excepti￿.
As I continue io ￿ Mi590n Area Leader l back on Successful projects that have
been sustained this year and new ¢JJtre&h aThJ communty engagement Ihal are starting
to flourish. It is thefefrye a personal pleasu￿ to k*)k back tffl 2023 and thank all who
have contn"tsJted to an excelknt year of xhlevement.
