The President, Treasurer and Secretary are appointed as Trustees by the Club's Members, other Trustees are appointed by the Club President. Trustees during 2024125: . To promote health and well-being. To protect the environment. To support youth development. To promote peace and understanding. To strengthen communities. To provide humanitsrian assistance in times of need. These objectives are in line with the mission and values of Lions Clubs International, and they reflect the wide range of activities that Lions clubs undertake to make a difference in the world. Activities The activities of the Club are to serve the community. to further our objectives and to raise funds and apply its income for any purpose that is charitable according to the current laws of England and Wales. The income is for the benefit of any individual, groups, organisations, or other charities. During the year the Club has: _ Maintained a Community Minibus: _ This is used to support people in the community who suffer from transport poverty and to whom the minibus is a key benefit in an area where public transport is both expensive and limited.

Grants The club made Grants totalling £24,106 These were distributed in the following proportions of the totsl: . 28 grants locally. These locally targeted funds supported rnany diverse causes including: A local foodbank Funding for local school and playgroup projects. Gloucestershire Young Carers Help with the ongoing funding for groups to help people with memory loss and general well-being. 3 grants to UK-wide charitable causes. The Club donated to UK-based organisations such as the Hope for Tomorrow and Freewheelers (Blood Bikes). 4 grants supporting international causes, e.g: Lions Sightsavers, Grants under this heading also include specific funds for 'Help Madina. (a charity set up by two local GPS supporting an area in Sierra Leone.) The Club also supported the Lions Club International Foundation (LCIF) in their worldwide support, with significant funds being donated to: o Those affected by Environmental Disasters in Myanmar Those affected by floods in Valencia, Spain. Fundraising The club raised funds totalling £36,197 in the following ways". - 1. Donations 2. Organising fund-raising events: a. A sponsored cycle ride in support of the Lechlade Library refurbishment project, b. An Open-water Swim raising funds for Lions Club funds, c. An Auction of promises etc. d. Santa Sleigh House-to-house collection. Christmas Raffle f. Easter Egg Raffle involving local hostelries. 3. Supporting other clubs and organisations for remuneration such as: The Lechlade Collectors Club Lechlade Cricket Club Car Boot sale Moving forward, the Club is actively seeking opportunities to fundraise collaboratively (and more effectively} with local charitieslorganisations so that our supporters have clearer idea of where their donations go.

Membership Club Memb8rship is by invitation and w8 are always actively seeking to bring new people from all ages and walks of life in to help us with our service activities. During the la* yearthe Club has maintained its membership base and worked in collaboration with local people who are happy to help us in our work as 'Friends of Lions., However. new members are always welcome. Grant Making Policy The number of applications that can be supported is, of necessity, limited to the amount of funds available for distribution in any one year. No restricttons are imposed on the purpose for which a grant may be made; thus, applications for support towards capital projects, other projects or CO￿ costs are considered. Trustees also consider international funding reouests refer￿d to them by the Lions International organisation. Candidates for support andlor grants are all considered on their own merits, following investigation by the 'Welfare Committee,. However, given that most of the available funds are raised within the local community, those candidates that are local are given special consideration. Using the former as a guiding principle the following are examples of a￿aS adopted for support: Local charities Youth groups Groups working with the elderly, residential and nursing homes Individual appeals. Youth and children's organisations - sport related groups or individuals, scouting and guiding, youth club activities, young people undertaking overseas assignments. Community facilities - relief of hardship for individuals and families, village hall projects. community group initiatives. The above priorities in this policy will be reviewed every year (or more often if deemed appropriate by the Trustees) and may be changed in accordance with the Trustees, view of the most effective application of available funds at any point in time.
