Harmony aims to provide
assistance to children and young people who want to study music
but who currently lack the funds they need to do this.
The playing and performing of music can help people to express
themselves better, find new confidence in their own abilities and
discover hope for a better future.
Playing music with others, in ensembles or orchestras, develops an
awareness of how individual contributions can come together to
make the whole, and this brings a sense of community. Working
towards a common goal in partnership with other musicians
cultivates valuable life skills that can be utilised in many different
walks of life, as well as in the field of music.
There are millions of under-25s, in the UK and across the world,
who have never had the opportunity to experience the life-
enhancing benefits of music-making and are therefore potential
beneficiaries of the charity’s work.
Harmony’s charitable objects describe various ways in which it
might seek to support the music training of young people under the
age of 25. These include the provision of direct financial assistance
where needed, input from professional musicians funded by the
charity and the setting up of special projects involving groups of
young musicians.|

Section D Achievements and erformance p

**Summary of the main achievements of the charity during the year**

The STAND video was recorded in 2019, featuring a song composed by Rebecca Dale with lyrics by Selina Nwulu. The song’s lyrics remind us that we are stronger whilst standing together in the face of adversity. Most of the production work for this video was completed in 2019, but some additional recording was due to take place in 2020. Unfortunately, this additional work could not be undertaken as planned, because of the Covid-19 restrictions. This means the final version of the video is not yet available for release. The Covid-19 restrictions that pertained for most of the twelve months to 31 January 2021 meant there was no opportunity to develop the charity’s work along the lines envisaged by its stated objectives. Donations amounted to just £115, including a small contribution from the Easyfundraising scheme. In response to a request from a composer, the charity facilitated the recording of a piece of music she had written. After the payment of musicians’ fees, the provision of this service earned a net income of £400 for the charity.

**Section E Financial review**

**Brief statement of the charity’s policy on reserves**

The charity has no reserves (the cash balance at the end of the financial year was just £173). The charity has no property to maintain, employs no staff and there are currently no spending commitments associated with its charitable objects. The financial risk is therefore judged to be very low at present and the charity has not yet adopted a policy on reserves.

**Details of any funds materially in deficit**

## **Further financial review details (optional information)**

You **may choose** to include additional information, where relevant about:

- the charity’s principal sources of funds (including any fundraising);
