## **OBJECTIVES AND ACTIVITIES**

The objectives of Barakat are summarised below:

- To support the wider community by promoting good morals & conduct and addressing areas of social concern, such as anti-social behaviour, criminality, substance abuse and family breakdown. To address misinterpretation, misunderstanding and misrepresentation of the Islamic faith. To assist present and future generations of Muslims to preserve and perfect Islam in their lives. To assist in the provision of any charitable services within the limits of the law and particularly within the bounds of Islam.

## **Public Benefit**

## **Main activities during the year (continued)**

The dedicated men/boys only weekly swimming slot that was secured in a leisure centre in Redbridge last year is being used fully. Subsequent to the year end, the local community has also been supported in securing a sports hall for ladies sports on weekly basis.

The religious classes that were started by the charity in local mosques have been ongoing and have received good feedback from the local community.

The trustees are in the process of setting/updating strategic direction of the charity for the future years to enhance scale of the activities of the charity.

## **FINANCIAL REVIEW**

For the year, the trustees have prepared Receipts and Payments accounts and a Statement of Assets and Liabilities, as permitted under section 133 of the Charities Act 2011. The financial statements for each financial year must give a true and fair view of the state of affairs of the charity and of the incoming resources and application of resources. In preparing these financial statements, the trustees are required to:

- Select suitable accounting policies and then apply them consistently; Observe the methods and principles in the Charities SORP;

- Make judgements and estimates that are reasonable and prudent;

- State whether applicable UK Accounting Standards have been followed, subject to any material departures disclosed and explained in the financial statements;
