FOOD FOR NOUGHT CORE RUNNING COSTS APPROX PER ANNUM.

Fleet vehicle insurance Aviva per year £3,730.60 at time of printing (2025). Due; ( 25/05/2026 ) this has increased by £147,73 for this year.

Fleet breakdown cover per year £717.03 at time of printing. AA Due; ( JUNE 26 )

MOTs and maintenance for three vans approx. £4,500 ( in case vans need tyres + other maintenance) MOT ( 24-10-26 / 20-12-26 / 07-09-26 ) maintenance was increased by £700 as fleet getting older.

Vehicle tax 3x £345 per year = £1.035 ( 01-11-26 / 01-12-26 / 02-05-26 ) this increase is from Gov for all vehicles.

Total per year at time of printing. = £9,982.63 total increase for 2025 was 902.73

HDC for 2 x fridges £3,326.61 per year

PCC for 3 x fridges £6,655.95 per year the price for PCC is this as number 4 fridge was on the same jurney as the one that has closed.

This is the approximate figure we need to raise just to keep running per year.

The total income from grants for 2024/2025 was £17,959,30 and the expenditure was £17,750,20the extra was for work done on vans and spare parts.

Objectives and Activities

Food For Nought was started in mid-2017 and has worked with various Peterborough & Huntingdonshire based charities and organisations to quickly set up a regular operation collecting surplus food and delivering this to a community fridges and other selected locations for the surplus to then be passed out to people in need.

In the almost 9 years we have been running, Food for Nought redistributed close to 170,000 tonnes of surplus food to those who are in need. This is currently being collected from organisations including the following:

• Tesco’s – M&S

• ▪

• Riverford Organic Farms

Waitrose ▪

• Serpentine Green

• Barnack Distributions

• Aldi’s Peterborough

Further to the collection and redistribution of this surplus food, volunteers have also been running cookery courses to teach those in need, as well as others, how to cook a variety of meals with a view to better using the surplus food that is available through the Food For Nought scheme.

Key people and location

Food for Nought is driven by Cocoa Fowler. It is currently located at 3 Heather Avenue, Dogsthorpe, Peterborough, PE1 3XN in 2025 we could no longer keep the centre at 264 Gladstone street with a lack of funds.

Current operations

Food for Nought has been able to triple its supply of food to its food hubs. It is estimated that over 1,500 people are being helped weekly from the community fridges and 100s more from the food delivered by Food for Nought to other charities in the Peterborough and Huntingdonshire areas. Food for Nought has received significant support from the local media and several external Partners including Serpentine Green; PECT; Peterborough City Council; Huntingdonshire district council; City College Peterborough; PCVS; WestRaven Big Local; The Robert Dixon Trust; Print Solutions; PS Media; Children of Adam and The Social Echo Yaxley.

Additional information

We have applied for various grants and funding with varying levels of success. After the year end, we have received funding from Peterborough and Huntingdonshire city councils to help us expand into the Huntingdonshire area. Our volunteers have worked nonstop and with endless enthusiasm for the whole time to keep Food for Nought running. In April 2025 Miss Sally Howell stopped being a trustee as she felt she had a conflict of interest when she became a local councillor. And Mr Neil Croson left for personal reasons and health reasons. At this time Mr Cocoa Fowler and Mr David Dixson joined along with Miss Nicky Howley.

Achievements and Performance

Over the past 12 months we have delivered surplus food to thousands of people in the Peterborough and Huntingdonshire area’s. And In the past year we were successful in getting a grant from the nation loto to replace the oldest van.

Additional information

At the AGM DD reported on the budgets state for 2026 and CF gave a report on the rest of what was happening with FFN. He also reported on the susses of the loto grant and the buying of the new van, there have been far to many repairs to the vans in 2025 and funds have been very low.
