Chairman’s Report:

I would like to divide my report into Four sections namely Treasurers, Fund Raising, Services and Membership.

AGM - TREASURER'S REPORT 01 JULY 2023 - 30 JUNE 2024

Structure of Accounts

Truro Lions Club operates with 4 accts. We have 3 day to day working accts at Nat West bank: these are, Administration, Charity, and Fund Raising accts. A 4th acct being the COIF Charities Deposit Fund acct held with CCLA (Investment Management): this latter being effectively our savings acct, currently earning circa £30.00 per month interest.

Examination of accounts

At the end of the Audit period the accts were examined by Mr Rob Barrington and signed off as in good order and a true record of transactions. A copy of the accts and his report is held in e-copy format, available for Members if required. A copy has been sent to Treasurer MD105SW.

As part of the Trustees Annual Report the Charity Commission require their audit document, CC16 to be completed. This document, with expert assistance from Mr Barrington has now been completed and again signed off. A copy of CC16 has been submitted.

Income and Expenditure Notes

Income - Over the period Club earned over £21, 000. The sources being Giant Easter Eggs, Crystal Golf, Cuddly Lions, Xmas hampers, Book sales, public donations and a transfer from the COIF account. All these added substantially to the Charity fund enabling Club to allocate almost £22,000 to a multitude of good causes.

Expenditure - Thanks to the efforts of all Club members and the generosity of the public we were able to make considerable donations to worthy causes, both local and international in support of LCIF.

Beneficiaries included: Motor Neuro Disease £7.4K; Penhaligon’s Friends £5K and our Christmas Annual Grants £4.2K. Other smaller G&A donations added up to over £6K. benefiting a real diversity of deserving cause for such as our Friendship bench and the Hendra Holiday for a deserving family from the Refuge.

Summary and the Year ahead

We started the new fiscal year (01 July 2023 - 30 June 2024) with all 3 working accts holding good opening balances and a healthy, if somewhat reduced, reserve (COIF) to call upon.

The new year will present many new challenges.

Our proven income raising events, including Giant Eggs, The Crystal, and Xmas Hampers, supported by the smaller ventures and a healthy reserve will enable Truro Lions to support our local community and, if called upon, to provide help further afield in support of LCIF.
