## **Trustees' Report**

The trustees present the annual report together with the financial statements of the charity for the year ended 30 June 2022.

## **Objectives and activities**

The charity was registered as a Foundation CIO on 20 August 2018. The objects as per the constitution are:

The relief of the poor and those in need by reasons of youth, age, ill health, disability, financial hardship or such other disadvantage or such other charitable purposes as the trustees may from time to time direct.

The charity achieves those objectives primarily through the publication of "Morgan's Historic and Classic Vehicle Events Yearbook".

## **Review of the Year**

The year book was produced in March 2022, one month later than the usual publishing date. The Covid-19 pandemic remained a factor in uncertainty around holding events. The trustees decided to go ahead with the publication of the book expecting only to break even. However, due to the loyalty of the enthusiasts who buy the book, we managed to make a modest surplus with book sales and dislay advertising increased on the previous year.

Charitable donations of £3,180 were made from unrestricted funds in the year to local, national and international causes. Medical supplies amounting to £1,764 were acquired for sending to Ukraine, funded from individual donations received specifically for this. In addition £3,000 was transferred to this fund from unrestricted funds.

The trustees are pleased with the performance of the charity this year and look forward to being able to support more charitable causes in the coming year.

## **Public benefit**

The trustees confirm that they have complied with the requirements of section 17 of the Charities Act 2011 to have due regard to the public benefit guidance published by the Charity Commission for England and Wales.

## **Reserves and risk management**

The income, which includes book sales, advertising and donations, is applied firstly to the costs of producing the yearbook secondly to retaining working capital for the charity and finally to provide funds for grants and donations to local, national and international charities.

Risks are considered by the trustees.

## **Structure, governance and management**

The charity is governed by its constitution dated 20 August 2018. There are six trustees appointed. Regular meetings are held as needed.

Mr C Allison, Trustee, received payments from the charity for provision of printing, delivery and publishing services amounting to £7,266. This is permitted by the constitution.

The annual report was approved by the trustees of the charity on 20 April 2023 and signed on its behalf by:

## **Independent Examiner's Report to the trustees of Burnley Rotary Club CIO**

I report to the trustees on my examination of the accounts of Burnley Rotary Club CIO for the year ended 30 June 2022.

## **Responsibilities and basis of report**

As the charity trustees of Burnley Rotary Club CIO you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 (‘the Act’).

I report in respect of my examination of the Burnley Rotary Club CIO's accounts carried out under section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination I have followed all the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act.

## **Independent examiner’s statement**

I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination giving me cause to believe that in any material respect:

1. accounting records were not kept in respect of Burnley Rotary Club CIO as required by section 130 of the Act; or

2. the accounts do not accord with those records; or

3. the accounts do not comply with the accounting requirements concerning the form and content of accounts set out in the Charities (Accounts and Reports) Regulations 2008 other than any requirement that the accounts give a ‘true and fair view' which is not a matter considered as part of an independent examination.

I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in this report in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
