The objectives of the club<br>include,<br>•<br>The advancement of citizenship by<br>promoting the principles of good<br>citizenship<br>•<br>The relief of poverty<br>•<br>Encouraging members to take an<br>active interest in the civic, cultural,<br>social & moral welfare of the<br>community<br>•<br>Provide a forum for the open<br>discussion of all matters of public<br>interest providing that partisan<br>politics and sectarian religion should<br>not be debated by members<br>•<br>Encouraging service-minded people<br>to serve their community without<br>personal reward and encouraging the<br>promotion of high ethical standards in<br>commerce, industry, professions<br>public works & private endeavours.<br>•<br>Supporting youth to develop their<br>skills, capacities and capabilities to<br>enable them to participate in society<br>as mature and responsible<br>individuals.<br>•<br>Promoting the Voluntary Sector for<br>the public benefit by associating with<br>local authorities in a common effort to<br>advance education and provide<br>facilities in the interests of social<br>welfare for recreation or other leisure<br>time occupation.|

|Summary of the main<br>activities in relation to those<br>purposes for the public<br>benefit, in particular, the<br>activities, projects or services<br>identified in the accounts.|Para 1.17 and<br>1.19|The club has continues to be involved in a<br>number of fundraising activities.<br>From March onwards it has continued to<br>hold a breakfast bar at a local Car Boot sale,<br>serving bacon sausages and burgers, plus<br>drinks for visitors to the car boot. It has been<br>a good way of raising our profile within the<br>community.<br>It has also held an Easter promotion,in<br>conjunction with the local cinema’s Easter<br>Bunny trailwith free eggs for Children on<br>Easter Sunday.<br>A stand at a local show in June with a<br>Tombola was another fundraising activity.<br>Plus we held a provided a  burger stall at a<br>local village fete for 50% of the takings.<br>In November we supported the Marlborough<br>Community by providing Father Christmas<br>and his sleigh and drove the Mayor through<br>the centre of Marlborough at the annual<br>Christmas light switch-on. We took<br>donations and provided a photo opportunity<br>for children with Father Christmas.<br>Father Christmas and his sleigh was also<br>driven to local housing estates, (where<br>possible), with a static float in Marlborough<br>High Street and supermarkets in the area,<br>bringing joy to families and raising funds<br>throughout December.<br>We also supported the local cinema in<br>December at their Christmas Fair.|

|Statement confirming<br>whether the trustees have<br>had regard to the guidance<br>issued by the Charity<br>Commission on public<br>benefit|Para 1.18|The Trustees have paid regard to the Charity<br>Commission’s guidance on public benefit in<br>dealing with the objectives and activities of<br>the club.<br>The Club is governed by its CIO Constitution<br>and by the Constitutions and By-Laws of<br>Lions Clubs International as revised from<br>time to time. The Trustees are appointed in<br>accordance with Charity Law and they have<br>overall responsibility to ensure that the Club<br>operates in accordance with Charity law and<br>the club’s CIO document. All business of the<br>club is carried out on a monthly basis and is<br>attended and overseen by the Trustees.<br>The club relies on fundraising events and<br>occasional donations from the public to carry<br>out its work. All administrative expenses of<br>the club are met from subscriptions paid by<br>its members. The work is carried out entirely<br>by volunteers.<br>The club works with other local and national<br>agencies, and with other Lions Clubs, and<br>Lions Clubs international to achieve its<br>objectives.|

|Summary of the main<br>achievements of the charity,<br>identifying the difference the<br>charity’s work has made to<br>the circumstances of its<br>beneficiaries and any wider<br>benefits to society as a<br>whole.|Para 1.20|This year, we have raised £ 3,170 through<br>our fundraising efforts and distributed<br>£4,292.<br>We have been supporting a number of<br>individuals, families, children, clubs and<br>schools, in the Marlborough & District area.<br>Examples of this are:<br>•<br>A donation to Marlborough Scouts<br>towards the repair of their Scout Hut<br>roof<br>•<br>Provided carpets and flooring to<br>people moving into housing where<br>none were provided.<br>•<br>A donation towards a new minibus<br>was made to a local nursery because<br>theirs was stolen.<br>•<br>A push chair to support a child with<br>special needs. And a sensory chair<br>for an autistic child.<br>•<br>To support local parents, we have<br>provided funds for respite nursery<br>care and Forest School training, also<br>a donation to a local charity which<br>provided school meals at Christmas<br>•<br>Provided a refurbished mobility<br>scooter to someone with reduced<br>mobility<br>•<br>A food voucher at Christmas to<br>benefit a local family.<br>We have also donated to the Mayor of<br>Marlborough Charities following the<br>Christmas Light Switch-on and Lions<br>International disaster relief fund.<br>We have provided “message in a bottle”<br>bottles to the elderly who store medication<br>details in a bottle in their fridge. This is used<br>by paramedics in an emergency.|
