1.19|This year the Club has been involved in a
number of fundraising activities.
From March onwards it has held a breakfast
bar at a local Car Boot Sale, serving bacon
sausages and burgers, plus drinks for
visitors to the car boot. It has also been a
good way of raising our profile within the
community.
It has also held an Easter cake stall, with
free eggs for Children on Easter Sunday.
In April & May, with the support of Forestry
England, we were able to facilitate people
with or without their cars to visit a local
Bluebell Wood, most of which is not normally
open to the public. A request for donations is
made at the gate.
A stand at a local show in June with a
Tombola was another fundraising activity.
In November we supported the Marlborough
Community by providing Father Christmas
and his sleigh and drove the Mayor through
the centre of Marlborough at the annual
Christmas light switch-on
We also supported the local cinema in
December at their Christmas Fair.
Father Christmas and his sleigh was also
driven around the town, with a static float in
Marlborough High Street and supermarkets
in the area, bringing joy to families and
raising funds throughout December.|

benefit|Para 1.18|The Trustees have paid regard to the Charity
Commission’s guidance on public benefit in
dealing with the objectives and activities of
the club.
The Club is governed by its CIO Constitution
and by the Constitutions and By-Laws of
Lions Clubs International as revised from
time to time. The Trustees are appointed in
accordance with Charity Law and they have
overall responsibility to ensure that the Club
operates in accordance with Charity law and
the club’s CIO document. All business of the
club is carried out on a monthly basis and is
attended and overseen by the Trustees.
The club relies on fundraising events and
occasional donations from the public to carry
out its work. All administrative expenses of
the club are met from subscriptions paid by
its members. The work is carried out entirely
by volunteers.
The club works with other local and national
agencies, and with other Lions Clubs, and
Lions Clubs international to achieve its
objectives.|

our fundraising efforts and distributed £5,181
We have been supporting a number of
individuals, families and children in the
Marlborough & District area. Examples of
this are:
Donation to a group in Pewsey for a
canal trip for the elderly.
Provided a large size push chair for a
child with Autism
A single bed for a child living with a
disadvantaged family
Carpets and flooring for a number of
families who have moved into social
housing (where the policy is for
carpets are removed at each change
of tenant).
A mobility scooter to improve the life
of someone with a disability.
Paid for a carer for a child with
learning & physical difficulties.
Christmas and Mother’s day gifts for
parents on low incomes on behalf of
their children.
We have funded a defibrillator at a
local church.
We have also donated to the Mayor of
Marlborough Charities following the
Christmas Light Switch-on and Lions
International disaster relief fund.
We have provided “message in a bottle”
bottles to the elderly who store medication
details in a bottle in their fridge. This is used
by paramedics in an emergency.
We have collected glasses from a local
optician and other locations and sent them
for recycling.|
