Hengoed Community Project annual report 2021-2022

Trustees of the charity - Katie Collins, Carys Meyrick, Andrew Osborne,Thomas Jones, Mary Osborne

The work of Hengoed Community Project still remains to be mainly working with youth and children within the community.

Having experienced the difficulties and obstacles that most people faced due to covid we were pleased to be able to use the summer to prepare to welcome people back into the building. We found that as we welcome people back into the building for different activities that we had a lot of new children who came wanting to be part of the activities. This was a great encouragement and through this a number of parents would come to activities with their children. This was a great opportunity to make good links with families within the community as well as building links with the local primary school.

We did find that after covid that many of the youth who used to attend before covid didn't return. We ran a couple of trips for the community during the year to Western Super Mare and Drayton Manor. People of the community of all ages attended the trips and we're well attended. For many families they wouldn't be able to do days out like this without organisations arranging trips keeping the cost as low as possible and giving them the opportunity to pay for it over several months in manageable installments.

For the Queen's Jubilee we had a community fun day with a wide range of activities and food for everyone to enjoy.

We were also able to get grant funding for a path to be made in one area of the graveyard where it was difficult for people in the community to walk to the graves of their families and friends. People have found this really helpful and have had very positive feedback from people who wanted to attend the graves.
