Report on Matters To Date

1 Douglas Valley Lions Club (CIO) is a Member-Club of Lions Club International (LCI).
-
2 Douglas Valley Lions Club (CIO) is registered with the Charities Commission - it was registered by the Charity Commission on 16 August 2018 with the Registration Number 1179566.
-
3 Douglas Valley Lions Club (CIO) has 7 elected Trustees - since the last AGM Lion Martin Sharrock has resigned as a Trustee.

4 Lions are groups of individuals, male & female, who join together in Clubs and endeavour to meet many of the challenges faced by the vulnerable in society who are less able, less advantaged, and/or have special needs.

5 As well as providing grants to deserving local causes within the Burscough, Newburgh, Parbold, Lathom, & Apply Bridge areas of North West England, District 105CN areas & Multiple District 105 areas of Lions Clubs International British Isles, & to the Lions Clubs International Foundation for international Projects & Disaster Relief around the world, Douglas Valley Lions Club, undertakes a number of local community service projects. Examples of such projects include:

a) Christmas Hampers & Toys for Needy Families

b) Summer Play Sessions for Local Children
-
c) Annual Firework Display
-
d) Spectacle Recycling
-
e) Message in a Bottle
-
f) Cleaning Local Waterways Paths
-
g) Maintaining access to local Historical Site
-
6 The Trustees are fully aware of the Charity Commission’s guidance on Public Benefit & always have due regard to it when considering how to distribute its Funds.

7 Funds are raised locally from an Annual Golf Day; an AnnualFireworks Display; attendance at local Summer Fetes with a Bric-a-Bric Stall; plus donations from the General Public.

8 In the Lionistic Year 2020 to 2021 being reported upon donations have also been made specifically to :-

a) Local Refugee Relief Centres

b) Various requests from Social Services for White Goods for local Needy Families
-
c) Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal
-
d) Water Aid; SightSavers; Lions Club International Youth Appeals
-
e) Lions Clubs International Foundation Appeals
-
f) Donations to local Scout Groups; Air Ambulance; Mountain Rescue Team
-
g) Financial support for a School for the Visually Impaired
-
h) Donations to local Foodbanks
-
i) Donation to local Special Olympics Athlete
-
j) Christmas Hampers & Presents for Needy Families k) Donations to various NHS Charities
-
9 All Club Meetings throughout the year were held via Zoom but this did not have a detrimental affect on attendance at meetings which were maintained at over 70% throughout the year.

10 The Accounts for the Lionistic Year 1 July 2020 to 30 June 2021 have been independently examined & approved.
