PRIORITIES AND OBJECTIVES

  1. Plan, monitor and review operational systems: Improve the success and effectiveness in the long term and identify relevant financial resources.

  2. Promote the Playclub:

  3. Raise local awareness of the Playclub as a quality provider of support, care, education and play to pre-school children in the area.

  4. Expand services to include Clwb Haf and Clwb Pasg and further expand on After School Club to a five day provision.

PLANNING OF ACTIVITIES

Activities are child-led. Planning is focussed on the children’s current interests, gaps in development and invitations to learn new skills. We focus on the five developmental pathways

The Curriculum Plan includes:

HEALTHY EATING

The Playclub encourages healthy eating and drinking at snack times and lunchtime.

LANGUAGE

The Playclub is an English medium establishment. However, children’s home language will be given due consideration by staff familiarising themselves with greetings and key words in other languages.

The children are provided with opportunities to use and experience the Welsh language, traditions and cultural celebrations. Welsh stories and songs are shared daily.

CHAIRPERSON’S REPORT

Blessed William Davies Playclub has continued to successfully provide a stimulating, warm, caring and homely environment to cater for toddlers and pre school children in 2024-25. Our setting has continued to provide an excellent foundation in preparation for transition to our wonderful nursery school allowing children to build relationships with staff and familiarise themselves with the school environment. This year staff have continued to focus on the importance of transition with children at Playclub completing weekly transition sessions into the nursery. This has been facilitated by both our Playclub and School staff who have worked together to ensure our children have had a successful and smooth transition into their next phase of education.

Our After-School club setting continues to welcome students from all year groups attending the school allowing all year groups to integrate together as part of one Blessed William Davies school family. The roll out of a five-day provision has been a great success in 2024-25.

We continue to update our facilities at Playclub, a new kitchen and updates to our outside area including artificial grass this year has allowed our children to play outside during the wet winter months. We are also currently in the process of obtaining a grant to update the toilet facilities and add further updates and expansion to our outdoor facilities.

The team are experienced and qualified in all aspects of Childcare development, including First Aid, Food hygiene and Child Protection. Our team are committed to continued professional development and are currently enrolled on a Welsh Language development course, supporting our Cymraeg curriculum.

A structured day at Playclub is planned to include; creative and imaginative play, indoor and outdoor activities, quiet times and social meal/snack times. MW Sports provided another successful Sport Day for Playclub, at Christmas time parties for the children included the hire of soft play and a small bouncy castle providing our children with excellent entertainment.

Clwb Haf and Clwb Pasg continue to grow each year. Both providing opportunities for childcare during school holidays allowing our children to play in familiar surroundings cared for by staff that know and understand their needs.

As Chair of the Trustees, it gives me great pleasure to witness the Playclub grow from strength-to-strength. The Playclub has very strong links with the School allowing our children to integrate together as one Blessed William Davies family.

My sincere thanks and congratulations to the entirety of the staff body who work tirelessly to ensure that the Playclub continues to thrive.

Once again thank you for your continued support and most of all for allowing us the pleasure of looking after your children.

Mrs Rachel Tuliva Chair

Social Media

We have recently launched a new social media account for our Playclub, your support in giving us a follow and sharing amongst family, friends and the community would be very much appreciated. This will really help our setting to grow.
