The Playclub is an English medium establishment. However, children’s home language will be given due consideration by staff familiarising themselves with greetings and key words in other languages.

The children are provided with opportunities to use and experience the Welsh language, traditions and cultural celebrations. Welsh stories and songs are shared daily.

## **CHAIRPERSON’S REPORT**

The academic year 2022-2023 has proved to be a really successful year for the Playclub. This success has been due, in the main, to the Manager and her staff team who have continued to improve the day to day provision throughout the year.

The team has carried out its duties in a conscientious manner with full support of the Trustees. The staff are committed to ensuring that the children gain experience in all aspects of learning within a happy, friendly and safe environment. The playgroup has continued to be a fun and exciting setting to learn through play and interaction with other children. Increased usage of the outdoor areas has proved to be very popular giving the children with more opportunity to spend time outside with one another. This was also well received by children using the after school club provision.

As Chair of the Trustees, it gives me great pleasure seeing the Playclub grow from strength-to-strength. The Playclub has very strong links with the School, which is invaluable in terms of supporting easy transition into the Nursery class.

During the year, the children have experienced a variety of activities with free time to explore and play with toys both inside and outside. The introduction of the MW sports session was a great success enjoyed by all learners.

Our after-school club provision continued to grow and the introduction of Club Haf in the summer was a great success. Further expansion is planned for the academic year 2023-24 for this, we also aim to complete updates to our kitchen facilities and the outside area in the early academic year.

My thanks and congratulations to the staff team who have worked so hard to ensure that the Playclub thrives in a safe environment. Also, may I thank all the parents and guardians for choosing Blessed William Davies Playclub.
