BRADLEY PLAYGROUP - REGISTERED CHARITY NUMBER CIO 1179530

ANNUAL REPORT FOR THE YEAR TO 31ST AUGUST 2024.

Bradley Playgroup operates in Bradley Village Hall, LL11 4BB. It is privately managed by a voluntary committee and is registered by Care Inspectorate Wales (CIW) under part 2 of the Children and Families (Wales) Measure 2010 to provide sessional care as an incorporated organisation.

Responsible individuals: Alexzandra Newland and Vervaine Edwards. (Person in charge on a day-to-day basis: Alexzandra Newland.) Voluntary committee members/trustees: Chairman Claire Harrison Secretary Amy Levey Treasurer Vervaine Edwards Committee members Karen Whitby, Jacqueline Hesp, Rachel Edwards, Rebecca Beattie, Alex Beer, Sophie Wynne, Anna Coleman, Alanna Wynne.

The object of the charity is: “Empowering children to take their first steps on to their learning ladder” Aims:

Provide high quality childcare that enhances the development, care and education of pre-school children in a safe and stimulating environment, where they learn through play in partnership with parents/carers.

Welcome parents/carers who want to become directly involved in the activities of the provision and provide opportunities to do so.

Encourage parents/carers to understand and provide for the needs of their children. Embrace the ethos and principles of Early Years Wales.

The playgroup employs 3 members of staff.

Numbers of children attending has again been lower than previous years, however we have continued with advertising locally and the use of social media. We have “Open sessions” monthly to give families an opportunity to attend to see what we have on offer for the children attending. Children from the local community and nearby villages have attended.

Playgroup sessions are held Monday-Thursday from 9.00am-11.30am, term time only. Children can attend from the age of 2yrs 3months.

Following our successful tender for the period September 2022-August 2026, we offer Funded Early Education from January – July as part of the 30Hour Childcare Offer. The Parent and Toddler group sessions are held on a Friday morning. The parent and Toddler Group is the feeder group for Playgroup. Children attending are encouraged to register to attend playgroup when they reach 2yrs 3months.

The Playgroup was inspected jointly by Estyn and CIW in January 2024. We received a grading of “ Good” with positive feedback for the provision from both governing bodies.

We provide Funded Early Education and have recently been successful in our tender to provide Flying Start. This will start in the Autumn Term 2024.

We have continued to carry out regular fundraising activities and successfully sought grant funding from Hafren Dyfrdwy to assist sustainability.

We still predict that there are challenging times ahead of us financially, however, as a committee we will continue to work diligently, to continue the sustainability of Bradley Playgroup.

Vervaine Edwards, Responsible Individual and Treasurer. For and on behalf of the Playgroup Committee. – 1[st] October 2024.
