music The Mad Halter's Tea Party Iransfomis Lew$ Carroll'$ Wondedand into a high energy, heartfelt exploration of
identity, differen￿ and Self acceptanct. Thè run was sold out and Il Wds great to welcorne new audience5 to 8

together for sad￿rs We115 Elixir Festival in April 2024 called The Exchange. It was really Inspiring lo see the
connections made belween young and old In this piece. The ftsllowing monlh ZYC began rtheatsals for The Kingdom of
Nevar a production choreographed by Chaldon Williams. We delighted the Company We￿ invited back to Royal
Ballet and Opera's Next Generation Festival in June lo perfomi the produ¢tion over a weekend in the Linbury The81￿.

to diversify our recruilrnent and to ensure ￿ %4ere reaching as many talented young people a5 POS51ble we spent
October and November delivenng masterdasses for those interested In auditioning for the Youth Company in
December. Masterdasses ￿tre held in London. Li¥errx)ol and Wolverhampton and online. The 2024Q5 cohort of
exceptional danc£rs %%ere assembled by the end of 2024. began their ￿klY training wth Kale and Rhimes and were
perfortning at Southbank Centre's lrnagine Festival by Febtuary 2025.
Alongside our live performanc￿ SUC￿SseS. also tod< ts'me to ￿ntinUe Researth and Oevelopment IR&DI for our
upcoming production Ebony Scrooge written. directed and thoreographed by ZooNation Associate Artistic Director
Dannielle 'Rhitnes' Lecointe. Ebony ScroLKJe wll open at Ihe end of November 2025 al sad￿¢s Wells East and wll be

generation of theatre rnakers. Our projects provide paKJ opportunities for artists at different stages of their career to
develop skills In choreography. teaching, perforniance, theatre design. busines5 acumen and

artists. Individually they responded to needs articulated by artssts themselves. induding Spa￿ to ¢￿ale. leadership
opportuniti85 and strengthening ski115 and expenence in delivering parti(Jpatory and teaching work. 8s well as
perf0rrnan￿ and ChO￿ograph1C skills. This yearfs projeLts. alongside ZYC, Induded Young Art15ts Training Scheme,
SHIFf and C￿atiVe Assistants, all aimed at reacthing those from the global majonty.
In April 2024 ZooNation made the eX￿tIng derision to te(xyne resKlent at Robert Blair Prirnary SthoDI in Islington. This
was an opportunity for the team to have the first Offi￿ space they can all w)tk in together but also to e5tsblish and
develop a partnership wlh the sthool thai will allow us io shape an¢J devebp our N%ith schools and young people. It
is brilliant to be supporting (*eatiwty In the sthool and delivenng on our mission.
Beyond the physical theatrical audien￿. engaged wilh over 3.000 chihlren and young people in our talent
development and partiopalion programmes and ￿a¢he0 1.323 peop￿ online wth our digital St￿ning$ wth now mo
than 9,1)00 educational production resource packs do￿l08(*e￿. Of the 34 schools *Drkshops deliVe￿d the majority took
place outside London and were enjoyed by 1.000 young people. In all delivered 375 sessions for young people this
yearwith 20UA in Arts Council England pnorty places.
We were also completely deli9hted to be recognised in the 2024 Nats'onal Dance Awards by winnin9 the awerd for Best
Mid SCO￿ Cornpany in June and ¢0 be part of Rarnbert Grad￿ in their Story¢ellerfs Perfornance Pathway for the first

alongside the pursuit of our aim I'to encourage the access ¢0 the arts'l %Mth the cleation of our t8￿nt development
prograrnrne5 dedicated to supporting Blad( artists at various points in their r￿reer.
In 2024r25 made the bokl and exoting tjecigon that woulj bects7)e ￿$￿Ient at Robert Blair Pnmary School in
Islinglon. This wll provide the team with muth needed and desired Offi￿ spac£ in London Ihaving never had an offic

This year has also been a further year of development. learning and planning in ￿lation to environmentsl and wider
social issues. 2024125 Wds the second year in the ojrrenl National Porffolio Investment period trom our principal funder
IArts Coun￿1 England). The Inve51rnent principle5 for Arts Cr*Jnol England has ensured that our programme of WO￿ not
only continues to meet our Chantable and legal obli9abons but also pushes us to ￿0)rne a more environmentally
conscious company and a (￿MpanY that responds to current social issues in ils practi￿9 and programmes.
Our Trustees are vital to this process, ￿ crealed new Trustee group5 5peafically for area5 of I￿rk including
environmental responsibilrty and Induswity and relevance Ivnlh a fr￿uS on ensunn9 our worf% ￿a¢he$ and engages
artists who experience bamers to their development due lo their ra￿) Our board meetin9 reporting also includes

and focussed diseussion.
We continue lo develop and adapt our Green Rkyer to a¢cKJmpany all pr￿lUctIOnS and to ￿￿eW our Environmental
Responsibility Action plan for the year lo ensure %4t a￿ considering our environmental impact frorn the outjel and not in
tr05pecl. After having CoMp￿ted Carbon Literacy Training ￿ rnade the deasion lo appoint a Green Champion
Twstee to the board (Luke Shires) lo further ensure the Green agenda ￿MaInS part of our thinking. Our General
Manager joined the Dance sedor Theatre Greenbook ￿orkIng group ￿th those across the sector and the National
Theatre to help develop the Don￿ sperjfic a￿a5 lor Theatre Greenbook. We continue lo partner W￿th Julie's Bicycle lo
rnonitor our green perforrnance partiojlarly in relation to our office and touring ambitions. We aim to alway5 include
environmental Impact planning In the pre-produciion process and plan to monitor our cart)on footprint In production lor
the first lime in 2025126 ￿th the production OF Ebony Scrooge. We are doing this to better understand the gap between
where we currently are and our ambition to achvève at least Theatre Greenl)ook baseline. Sadlerfs Wells are an
important and sUPPOrtive partner in this proctss and data gathering.
We are ¥4r)rking wlh a Mental Health and Safegu8ryJiNJ speoalist to de¥elop a Mental Hearth and Wellbeing Rider to be
sha￿d wth partner organisalions to ensure are supportin9 our artisfs %4tllbeing as much as possible lthilst C￿ating
and touring ￿￿rk. We also have a dedicated ￿nIal Heatth and Wellbeing Offie*r vtho mentors the ZooNalion Youth
Company and the young artists on the Creative A￿"stantS programme.
In 2024125 we began I￿rking gn redesigning our %thrte and ￿freshIng gur brand to ensure we are maximi$ing

The Mad Hatterfs Tea Party
In September we remounted The Mad Hatterfs Tea Party at Ihe Linbury Theatre at Royal Ballet and Opera. This
production was first ￿prOdU￿d at Royal Ballet and Opera In 2014, going on to be further developed at the
Roundhouse In 2017. 11 Wds brilliant to bnng bad( this still very ￿leVant and poignant production back to It5 original
home for Its 10th anniversary. Many of the onginal cast ￿lUft￿ for the sold out run. The production's themes of
exploring 'differentness' and mental heatth continue to be very important lo all audiences, but particularly younger
audienr*s. The production 15 al80 Studied on the GCSE Danc* curriculum so ensured the production was raptured
for potential lulure digrtal distribution. We also hope to continue a tuture life forthKs prc¥Juction.

Following the delay of the opening of Sadkrfs Wells Easl and the srtjsequent delay on the production of Etx)ny Scrooge
we ensured that this year held research and developrnenl penods IR&DI for the pr￿uction. Ebony Scrooge was
cornrnissioned by Sadlerfs Wells East and has been ￿tten. directed and choreographed by ZooNation Associate
Artistic Director Dannielle 'Rhimes' Lecointe. Ebony Scrooge w•ll open at the ené of November 2025 at sad￿¢s Wells
East and bMII be both our first Chnslmas show and the firsl Chnstmas show In this new theatre.
The purpose of the two R&D penods wds to allow Rhimes to develop her creattve practice and plans for the production.
These ￿￿e held In October 2024 an¢J March 2025. one wth a greater focu5 On the creative team and the other wlh a
greater focus on dancers and choreography. The March R&D dosed wth a sharing of %that had been created (Juring the
weeks We are very much looking for%￿r￿ to staging this produdion next year and bringing a Hip Hop ￿l$t to a Dickens,

ZooNation Youth Company have had another fantastic and varied year. the 2023r24 Cohort kicked off April wrth their
performance of The Exthange, a collaboration wth Sadlerfs Wells Company of Epjers. Company of Elders is Sadlerf8
Wells resident company of over 60s non professional dancers. The Youth Company then worked really hard across the
hearsal weeks for their pertom)an(t of The ￿ngdoM of Nevar at the Royal Opera House as part of The Next
G&neration Festival. The ple￿ was created and directed by ZooNation Youth Company Artistic Director for that year
Chaldon Williarns. In September ZooNation Youth Company Alurnni perf0Th￿d at Royal Ballet and Opera's Family Day
and we welcorned our Artistic DI￿￿or Kate Prin￿ and Assoaate ArtISthc DItECtor Dannielle 'Rhimes' Lecointe as Artistic
D1￿CtOrS of the Youth Company. They spent Othober and November holdin9 perf0M)an￿ masterdasses In London,
Liverpool, Wolverhampton and online ahead of December a￿JitiOns. The 2024125 cohort ￿tre appointed in De￿mber
8nd took part in the ZooNation Academy of Dance Chn5trnas Show at the Place. In the new year the Company began

specifically for artists working in Hip Hop1sMth a focus on *rJmen and those who experience racism as a barrier to their
development). SHIFT provided a grant of £2.500 to Ihe artists alongside n￿nIOnn9 aThJ Coaching lo support them
exploring different opportunities for their r2reers off stage. Three artists *ere selected to take part. each exploring a
different area that they ￿Uld like to pursue to enhance their employability and ski115 outside of being a Hip Hop
perfomer. Due to the SUC￿$5 of the programme have deaded to continue the work with L￿D up to 2027 and in
2025r26 excitingly ￿ will be ￿llaboratIng bsith Boy Blue on SHIFT.

Resolution Festival at the pla￿ in 2025. Ja￿Ule Kibuka. Chaquilk Forrester-osbourne and (Ju Alatise had work
showcased at Resolution Festival at The Plae£ in London. It was briuiant lo see their ¢raft and ￿eatiVIty on show and we
hope to bring The Artists back to our programrne in luiure years.

connection lo the communities V+E seek lo serve and Inspire and has provided criticAI professional development to an
established Hip Hop Artist wshing to take on their first organisational leadership position. It's been a brilliant year with

ZooNation prC￿uCtIOn has been ￿tten, directed and thoreographed by her. It is particularty special to be opening this

We are now in our second year of collaborating wih Satherfs Wells Making Move$ vknich is a new choreography and
performance project inviting sthool and youth groups from arxoss England lo show us their moves.
Th15 yearfs project wa5 the first nalionwde projeL1 for young people aged 11-18. Schools and youth 9roup5 Used digital
choreographic toolkrts from choreographers such as Mesandta Seutin. Dann*lle 'Rhimes' Lecointe. Jordan Douglas,
and Oona Doherty to create newwoth$.
In July we led a workshop. delivered by ZooNation's Brad￿Y Charfes. for the schools who had used Rhimes,
¢ho￿ographY toolkit, at Sadlets Wells. Lan9￿Y Park School for Boys (from Kenti. Stodrport Grammar School (from
Greater Manchesterl. Barbara Priestman Aca¢Jemy Ifr(xn Sunderfandl - 39 dan￿r$ in total. Rhimes also mel some of
the groups performing as part of the Nats'onal Plaffom Ihal *Drked %%ith her toolkit on the Sad￿￿5 Wells main stage. The

ZooNation wa5 thrilkd to partner wth Rambert Grade5 in 2024125 and together developed a ZooNation piece as part of
Ratnbert Grades Storytellerfs PerfOrTnaD￿ Pathway. Dannielk 'RhiTnes' Lecointe delivered a workshop at Ratnb2rt to
support launching the pathway. Taking ￿ntre stage is an exciting solo from Some Like It Hip Hop This Grade 1 $010
18yS the foundations of Hip Hop. encouraging students to develop the1r charactensation skills through movement in a fun

In 2024 we supported the Year 6 students aThJ Ihe seh(x)I to ¢￿ale their leaverfs perf0mlan￿ in July before they all left
the school lo move on lo Secondary School. c￿ative Assistant and ZooNatson Youth Company Alumni Elijah Smith
devised the performance piece wlh the chI￿ren over a number of weeks. The piece w8s promenade around the school
building and explO￿d their eXpe￿en￿ of school from Reception up to Year 6. It was really rnoving to see how the
student's ￿SpOnde￿ to dance and to Elijah's leadership and Ihey really proud of their final performan￿ that was
performed to parents and carers. We are looking forward to devekjping more projects wth the sthool as part of our
ongoing partnership.

on learning with young people- primarily in educational contexts.
