The trustees, who are also the directors for the purposes of company law, present their report and the unaudited financial statements of the charity for the year ended 31 December 2025.
The financial statements have been prepared in accordance with the accounting policies set out in notes to the accounts and comply with the charity's governing document, the Charities Act 2011 and Companies Act 2006 and Accounting and Reporting by Charities: Statement of Recommended Practice applicable to charities preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland published in October 2019.

Objectives and activities
The Charity's objects are:
The advancement of amateur sport through the promotion of sporting activity amongst recipients of organ, tissue and cell transplants, as well as living donors and donor families.
The advancement of health through the promotion of the study of biological and clinical problems of organ transplantation in order to improve the health of recipients of organ, tissue and cell transplants.
The advancement of education of the general public in relation to the benefits of organ, tissue and cell transplantation, including education about organ donation and raising awareness of the worldwide shortage of donor organs for transplantation, as well as the dissemination of new knowledge arising out of the study of biological and clinical problems of organ transplantation to the transplant community and to the general public; and the promotion of the mental and moral improvement amongst the community of recipients of organ, tissue and cell transplants, as well as living donors and donor families, through the promotion of international friendship and relations amongst that community.
Activities
The main activities of the Charity are:
The delivery of the very successful 25th Summer World Transplant Games (August 2025) in Dresden, Germany with sports and social events for transplant recipients, living donors and donor families/supporters.
During the year the next Transplant Football World Cup (TFWC) was announced and plans commenced - to be held in Frankfurt Germany (Sept 2026).
Announcement of the 2026 Snow Boot Camp to replace the Winter Games - to be held in Anzere, Switzerland (March 2026).
Continued liaison and support for the transplant community with a comprehensive social media plan providing campaigns, competitions and information - including 'My Transplant Scars', 'I am Transplant', 'The Living Proof Project', "I am donor", Throwback Thursday campaign and Football Fridays.
Implementation of revamped 'The Hall of Fame' criteria honouring long term attendees of the World Transplant Games and celebrating the success and longevity of their transplants.
Continuation of the Youth program, Transplant Next, which aims to give transplanted children and youth the opportunity for support, developing life skills and social interaction through webinars, new webpages and camps. In addition, a Next Generation Youth subsidy of 500 euros was awarded to 10 youth participants at WTG2025 Dresden (Funded by Big Give 2024).
Continued provision of the Transplant Hub forum where recipients and the wider transplant community can interact with each other providing support and social interaction.
Continuation of the "Celebrate the Power of Sport" social media campaign and website pages introducing the transplant community to sports which they can participate in at the World Transplant Games with tips, tricks, motivational strategies and guidelines.
Ongoing development of the Research group to further assist the transplant community with their health and fitness.

Continued delivery and improvement of a Fit for Life! online rehabilitation program (Refit for Life) to assist recipients in taking the first steps to get active post-transplant, and showcase these recipients to the public, thus promoting organ donation and transplantation. With the support of ITB-Med sponsorship ($31,703 - 2024) we completed the translation into 4 languages in August 2025.
Additional Wellness programs were added this year ensuring an even greater range of support for the transplant community. The Women's Wellness Program is now well established, and Men's Wellness initiatives commenced in April 2025 - alongside Combined Wellness webinars and initiatives e.g. London Graffiti Dec 2025.
Attending, presenting, and hosting of a workshop in the UAE January, MEI Congress Lausanne June, ESOT Congress London June/July, SportAccord IF Forum Switzerland Oct, US hosts Congress Dec 2025. - dedicated to the benefits of sport and activity on promoting organ donation, assisting transplant youth and helping rehabilitation for transplant recipients
The Biannual Transplant World Journal was moved to a digital bi-monthly newsletter - improving and modernising this loved communication, whilst simultaneously giving costs and operational efficiencies.
Fundraising and seeking grants are relatively new activities for the WTGF. The Trustees and staff successfully ran a 2nd BIG GIVE Christmas Campaign in Dec 2025 - a matched giving initiative - £6,737 (inc. Gift Aid). Further objective setting is a planned for 2026.
The WTGF also continued to explore opportunities to expand its event portfolio and participation pathways, including the development of potential standalone events such as a Transplant Golf World Championship, E-sports/EA Sports initiatives, and regional transplant games, with the aim of increasing participation, engagement and awareness opportunities for transplant recipients worldwide in the coming years.
Public benefit
In shaping our objectives for the year and planning our activities, the Trustees have considered the Charity Commissions guidance on public benefit when setting the objectives for the year.
The Trustees confirm that they have complied with the duty in section 4 of the Charities Act 2011.

Achievements and performance
Over the reporting period the World Transplant Games Federation directly met its objectives - to promote amateur sport, to improve the physical health and mental wellbeing of recipients and the advancement of education of the general public in relation to the benefits of donation.
The Federation achieved this through:

The Federation has in the main achieved the objectives set out notwithstanding ever increasing costs, and global threats.
Financial review
Income from all sources increased significantly to £298,379 (2024: £145,666) for the year. The primary cause for this increase was the the result of the Host Fees received in respect of WTG Dresden. Expenditure amounted to £177,064 (2024: £207,844) being a marginal decrease from the previous year. Overall this led to a net surplus for the year of £121,315 (2024: net deficit £62,178).
During the reporting period £49,851 ($67,160) was received - the first 2 tranche host fee payments in respect of the 26th Summer WTG to be held in Leuven, Belgium (August 2027).
TFWC and Snow Boot Camp income will be received in 2026.
The World Transplant Games Federation has been in existence for over 45 years and is considered by the Board as a going concern. This is confirmed by a review of the accounts by an independent auditor.
Reserves policy
The financial position as at the period end is exhibited by the Charity's balance sheet presented on page 12. This shows that the Charity's funds amounted to £248,719 (2024: £127,404) but of this £20,036 (2024: £30,487) applies exclusively to the Fit for Life! program, £10,067 (2024: £15,441) for the Youth program, £12,788 (2024: £20,102) Lottery , £3,127 (2024: £6,535) Big Give and £146 (2024: £Nil) for the the Country Development Programme.
The Trustees consider the Federation's financial position as at 31 December 2025 to be sound and healthy in spite of ever increasing costs, and has seen improvements since the lost income due to COVID-19 virus and reduced income from the Perth Games 2023.
Enhanced budgeting and cashflow forecasting continue to ensure ongoing good financial governance.
The Trustees have examined the Charity's requirement for reserves in light of the main risks to the organisation. The Trustees understand that reserves are needed to bridge the gap between spending and receiving income and to cover unplanned expenditure. In general, the major outgoings in respect of summer and winter Games comprise Trustees' travel expenses and Games expenses which are largely funded by receipt of participant capitation fees and host fees. This also ensures that an adequate working balance of funds exists to cover the day-to-day support costs, the largest item of which comprises staffing and travel and subsistence costs. In assessing our reserves, we measure them against a rolling cashflow forecast that projects income and expenditure over the next three years.
The Trustees believe that this approach demonstrates that the charity holds adequate reserves to continue full operations and remain in a sound financial position. Furthermore, should any concerns arise regarding future financial stability, it is worth noting that many of our operational expenses relate to contractual workers. This model offers flexibility, as the scope of these services can be scaled up, reduced, or even suspended inline with the financial position and cash flow of the WTGF. This flexibility allows us to adjust expenditure appropriately should the need arise. The Trustees therefore believe this reserves policy is appropriate and ensures prudent and effective financial management.

Cash reserves at the period end amounted to £216,734 (2024: £111,890). The Federation holds restricted funds of £46,164 (2024: £72,565) relating to the Fit for Life! programme funded by sponsorship from Novartis in 2020/2021 and Youth program funds raised by the LOC in 2021 for the 5K AnyWay. Plus, Lottery funding in 2024 , Big Give campaigns in 2024 and the Country Development Programme, There are ongoing programs of initiatives under these banners and funding is strictly monitored.
Principal funding sources
The principal source of funds emanates from the host and capitation fees charged to the host city of the Summer Transplant Games.
In 2027 this will be held in Leuven, Belgium.
An annual grant from the International Olympic Committee (IOC) of $27,000 (£20,041) was again received for the year in November 2025.
A £5,000 donation was again gratefully received from the Sir Edward Lewis Foundation.
THE BIG GIVE Christmas Campaign in Dec 2025 - a matched giving initiative - raised £6,737.
Investment policy
Surplus funds placed on deposit have continued to provide a valuable additional source of passive income.
Principal risks
The principal risks would be the inability to encourage cities to bid for the Games. This has been mitigated through the review of the bidding process of the Games.
The contracted host organisation for each Summer and Winter Games collects a capitation fee from every registered participant on behalf of the Federation. We have experienced delays in these funds being handed over to the Federation in the past. The risk of potential loss of funds is now mitigated through clear terms in the contract. Going forward, we are examining the practical implications of the Federation collecting the capitation fees directly from participants.
Plans for future periods
We are looking towards further sponsorship opportunities in 2026 and also continuing to diversify grant and fundraising opportunities. We are also exploring a new operational model which is intended to increase income for the WTGF in the long term and reduce participation fees to make WTGF accessible to more transplant recipients.

Structure, governance and management
Governing documentation
The World Transplant Games Federation is a Company Limited by guarantee, and registered as a company under number 10323481. Liability is limited whereby the members, who are also the trustees undertake to contribute a sum not exceeding £10 in the event that the charitable company is wound up.
The Company is also a registered charity under number 1179470.
The Federation is made up of Member Countries (one representative organisation per country) from around the world who all work for the promotion of organ and tissue donation and the advancement of health within transplant populations. This body is known as the General Assembly which meets annually to guide the Federation. The Board of Trustees is entrusted to lead the Federation. An Executive manages the Federation on a day-to-day basis.
In April 2023, at the GA in Perth Australia, a new President & two Vice Presidents were elected.
The federation continues to evolve its governance model and requirements. New bylaws were previously introduced to bring the election of Trustees in line with best practice and a conflicts of interest register for Trustees was also implemented.
In addition the federation has membership bylaws to ensure that member organisations work towards best practice and are representative of the entire transplant sport community in their respective countries.
Trustees and their recruitment, appointment and training
Trustees can be nominated for election by the CEO or Chair of member organisations (each member country is represented by one member organisation). Elections are held at a meeting of the country members which is usually held every two years at the summer World Transplant Games but can be held online if necessary. Trustees hold their positions for four years after which time they will have to seek approval from the Board of Trustees to put themselves forward for nomination again. If that is approved, they need to seek nomination from their Member organisation again. The members of the Executive Board are appointed by a vote of the Trustees at the first Board Meeting immediately following the Trustee elections. They serve a four-year term from their election to an executive post.
The federation holds training session for trustees on their roles and obligations.
Independent examiner reappointment
A resolution to appoint Mrs A Robinson BFP FCA DChA of Lovewell Blake LLP as independent examiner will be proposed at the next meeting.
Small company provisions
This report has been prepared taking advantage of the small companies' exemption of section 415A of the Companies Act 2006.

I report to the charity trustees on my examination of the financial statements of the company for the year ended 31 December 2025 which comprise the statement of financial activities (including income and expenditure account), balance sheet and the related notes.
Responsibilities and basis of report
As the charity trustees of the company (and also its directors for the purposes of company law) you are responsible for the preparation of the financial statements in accordance with the requirements of the Companies Act 2006 ('the 2006 Act’).
Having satisfied myself that the financial statements of the company are not required to be audited under Part 16 of the 2006 Act and are eligible for independent examination, I report in respect of my examination of your company's financial statements as carried out under section 145 of the Charities Act 2011 (‘the 2011 Act’). In carrying out my examination I have followed the Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the 2011 Act.
Independent examiner's statement
Since the charity’s gross income exceeded £250,000 your examiner must be a member of a body listed in section 145 of the 2011 Act. I confirm that I am qualified to undertake the examination because I am a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW), which is one of the listed bodies.
I have completed my examination. I confirm that no matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination giving me cause to believe that in any material respect:

1. General information
The charity is a public benefit entity and a private company limited by guarantee, registered in England and Wales and a registered charity in England and Wales. The address of the registered office is First Floor Suite, 2 Hillside Business Park, Bury St Edmunds, IP32 7EA.
2. Statement of compliance
The charity constitutes a public benefit entity as defined by FRS 102. The financial statements have been prepared in accordance with Accounting and Reporting by Charities: Statement of Recommended Practice applicable to charities preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland issued in October 2019, the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102), the Charities Act 2011, the Companies Act 2006 and UK Generally Accepted Accounting Practice.
3. Accounting policies
Basis of preparation
The financial statements have been prepared on the historical cost basis.
The financial statements are presented in sterling, which represents a change from the prior year in which the accounts were presented in US dollars. The presentation currency has been amended in the current year to align with the native currency of the jurisdiction in which the charity is registered.
Comparative figures have been re-presented in sterling to ensure consistency of presentation between periods.
Although the financial statements are now presented in sterling, the functional currency of the charity remains US dollars. Transactions continue to be recorded in the functional currency, and translation into sterling is performed solely for the purpose of financial statement presentation.
Going concern
The accounts have been prepared on the going concern basis and the Trustees believe that no material uncertainties exist. The Trustees have considered the level of funds held and the expected income and expenditure for the next 12 months from authorising these financial statements. The budgeted income and expenditure is sufficient with the level of reserves for the charity to be able to continue as a going concern.
Income tax
As a registered charitable company, the activities are exempt from United Kingdom Income and Corporation taxation, provided that the income is applied to charitable purposes.
Fund accounting
Unrestricted funds are available for use at the discretion of the trustees to further any of the charity's purposes.
Restricted funds are subjected to restrictions on their expenditure declared by the donor or through the terms of an appeal, and fall into one of two sub-classes: restricted income funds or endowment funds.

Income
All income is included in the statement of financial activities when entitlement has passed to the charity, it is probable that the economic benefits associated with the transaction will flow to the charity and the amount can be reliably measured. The following specific policies are applied to particular categories of income:
Cash donations are recognised on receipt. Other donations are recognised once the trust has been notified of the donation, unless performance conditions require deferral of the amount. Income tax recoverable in relation to donations received under Gift Aid or deeds of covenant is recognised at the time of the donation.
Legacies are recognised on receipt or otherwise if the trust has been notified of an impending distribution, the amount is known, and receipt is expected. If the amount is not known, the legacy is treated as a contingent asset.
Income from charitable activities includes income recognised as earned (as the related goods or services are provided) under contract.
Investment income is recognised on a receivable basis.
All other income is accounted for on a receivable basis.
Expenditure
Expenditure is recognised on an accruals basis as a liability is incurred. Expenditure includes any VAT which cannot be fully recovered, and is classified under headings of the statement of financial activities to which it relates:
Expenditure on raising funds includes the costs of all fundraising activities, events, non-charitable trading activities, and the sale of donated goods.
Expenditure on charitable activities includes all costs incurred by a charity in undertaking activities that further its charitable aims for the benefit of its beneficiaries, including those support costs and costs relating to the governance of the charity apportioned to charitable activities.
Tangible assets
Tangible assets are initially recorded at cost, and subsequently stated at cost less any accumulated depreciation and impairment losses. Any tangible assets carried at revalued amounts are recorded at the fair value at the date of revaluation less any subsequent accumulated depreciation and subsequent accumulated impairment losses.
An increase in the carrying amount of an asset as a result of a revaluation, is recognised in other recognised gains and losses, unless it reverses a charge for impairment that has previously been recognised as expenditure within the statement of financial activities. A decrease in the carrying amount of an asset as a result of revaluation, is recognised in other recognised gains and losses, except to which it offsets any previous revaluation gain, in which case the loss is shown within other recognised gains and losses on the statement of financial activities.

Depreciation
Depreciation is calculated so as to write off the cost or valuation of an asset, less its residual value, over the useful economic life of that asset as follows:
Equipment - 33% straight line
Impairment of fixed assets
A review for indicators of impairment is carried out at each reporting date, with the recoverable amount being estimated where such indicators exist. Where the carrying value exceeds the recoverable amount, the asset is impaired accordingly. Prior impairments are also reviewed for possible reversal at each reporting date.
For the purposes of impairment testing, when it is not possible to estimate the recoverable amount of an individual asset, an estimate is made of the recoverable amount of the cash-generating unit to which the asset belongs. The cash-generating unit is the smallest identifiable group of assets that includes the asset and generates cash inflows that largely independent of the cash inflows from other assets or groups of assets.
For impairment testing of goodwill, the goodwill acquired in a business combination is, from the acquisition date, allocated to each of the cash-generating units that are expected to benefit from the synergies of the combination, irrespective of whether other assets or liabilities of the charity are assigned to those units.
Stocks
Stocks are measured at the lower of cost and estimated selling price less costs to complete and sell. Cost includes all costs of purchase, costs of conversion and other costs incurred in bringing the stock to its present location and condition.
Financial instruments
A financial asset or a financial liability is recognised only when the entity becomes a party to the contractual provisions of the instrument.
Basic financial instruments are initially recognised at the amount receivable or payable including any related transaction costs, unless the arrangement constitutes a financing transaction, where it is recognised at the present value of the future payments discounted at a market rate of interest for a similar debt instrument.
Current assets and current liabilities are subsequently measured at the cash or other consideration expected to be paid or received and not discounted.
Debt instruments are subsequently measured at amortised cost.
4. Limited by guarantee
The company is limited by guarantee, not having a share capital, and is also a registered charity; it is not liable to corporation tax. In the event of the charity being wound up, the liability in respect of guarantee is limited to £10 per member of the limited liability company.

12. Trustee remuneration and expenses
Trustees were reimbursed expenses amounting to £760 (2024: £1,489) during the year.
Travel expenses in relation to the Games and other meetings during the year were incurred on behalf of Trustees at a cost of £11,500 (2024: £12,036).

Fit for Life: continues work and development of programmes aimed at elevating the importance of physical activities at all levels. It is allocated to initiatives which promote activity post transplant, aid in rehabilitation in areas of exercise, nutrition, and mental wellbeing and includes "Billion Steps Challenge", Immucor podcasts and virtual events, and contribute to work in the area of research, education, and community engagement.

19. Related parties
During the year services totalling £860 (2024: £5,544) were charged by three family members of the CEO, K Renyard, to the Charity for work undertaken on the Re-Fit for Life translation project as part of the ITB Med sponsorship.
