Bloomsbury Pakistan – Social Science Research & Advocacy is a charity with registration no. 1179415 (The Charity Commission for England and Wales).
Its governing document is its constitution, drawn up and approved by the Trustees in 2018.
Mission
The object of the CIO is to promote education in Britain and Pakistan by raising public understanding about pressing social and intellectual challenges in Pakistan by: Public Lectures and panel discussions; Publishing Book reviews and reports on academic research; Dissemination of academic research through the social and mainstream media; Teacher Training Programmes in UK and Pakistan

Structure, Governance and Management
Officers (Trustees) and Executive Committee
The managing body of the Charity is the Executive Committee, which consists of nine Officers (Trustees) The assets of the charity, including any money standing to the credit of the Society in any bank account and the right to deal with the same, vest in the Trustees. The Officers and the Executive Committee are unpaid and work on a voluntary basis.

The book prize is awarded to the most outstanding academic book published in English in the previous calendar year on a topic or theme connected to the history / politics / society / economy / culture either of Pakistan within its present borders or of the communities of South Asia where the work is broadly relevant to Pakistan. The successful book is expected to make an original contribution to scholarly understanding of the lives and experiences of the people of Pakistan or South Asia.

Annual Lecture:
Annual Bacha Khan Lecture 2022: Pashtun Women and Education
Speakers: Dr Wiqar Ali Shah is the former Dean of Faculty of Social Sciences, Quaid-i-Azam University. He is the author of several books. His research focuses on Abdul Ghaffar Khan and Khudai Khidmatgars, gender, tribal areas and Afghanistan. He was awarded PhD from the University of Oxford. Discussant: Dr James Caron is an academic at SOAS. His academic research is on Pakhtuns, Pushto literature and history & politics of the region. Chair: Dr Mukulika Banerjee is an academic at LSE. Banerjee was awarded her doctorate from the University of Oxford where she worked on Bacha Khan, published as the book ‘The Pathan Unarmed: Opposition and Memory in the North West Frontier’. Introduction: Mr Ziauddin Yousafzai is from Swat, Pakistan. He is an activist and works on girls’ education. More details and video of the lecture

Pakistan Literature Festival (PLF) London 2023
The Pakistan Literature Festival (PLF) London will be held on 17th June 2023 at Conway Hall. PLF London is launched by the pioneers of literature festivals, Ameena Saiyid & Asif Farrukhi, Lightstone Publishers and Bloomsbury Pakistan.
