In Compiling Ihis summary of the main activrties undertaken for the public
benefrt in relation to these objects the Trustees ol the Denby Dale District
Lions Clijb have taken regard to the guidance issued by the Charrty
Commission..
Cldb Bknsiriess Meetings were held monthly throughout the period with all
Members invrted. Tfustees Meetings were held bi-monthly for Club
Trustees only. All meetings were held in person.
Fundraising activrties engaging wth our local community were held as
usual with our main conlributions coming from:

the Scarecrow Trail around Denby Dale, an outdoor event held in Ihe
summer and enjoyed by families from around the district and beyond
who follow Ihe trail and judge the scarecrows which local households
and businesses display in line wrth a chosen theme for that year
Ihe annual tour of the villages wrth Santa and his sleigh bringing
smiles for children land adU￿s1} of all ages. Other Santa events
included school visrts. care home visrf(s and Christmas Fairs.
the annual Denby Dale District Lions Beer Festival again raised
signrficanl income in March. 11 is a well-established event, fhe firsl
having been held over Ihirty years ago!
also during the summer months the Club took its very popular
coconut shy to vanous school summer fairs, agncultural shows and
the like
In addrtion lo Ihese major fundraising events the Club also continued
to receive donations for the use of its Club volunteers and equipment
at events hosted by other community organisations, mainly
barbecues. large tents and bars for beer festivals, fairs and
fundraising events.

Achievements and performance
Among others, we were able to awaid gfani furiding as follows.
A donation to Kirkwood Hospice
A donation to the Lions Club International Disaster Fund
A donation to the Skelmanthorpe Derby and Joan Club
towards the instsllation of a defibrillator.
Funding for a significant number of Xmas food hampers
for distribution by the local food bank (The Pantry) to
families in need
A donation to the Cash 4 Kids charity for children in
poverty
Part Funding for the installation of a defibrillator outside a
sandwich shop in Scissett
A donation to the Forget Me Not Children's Hospice
A donation to the Kirkwood Hospice
A donation to the Barnsley Hospice
A donation to Wakefield Hospice
Part Funding towards the installation of a defibrillator
outside Scottie's wine bar in Scissett.
Donation to Shelley Cricket Club towards the cost of
equipment for the junior team
A donatton to the Denby Dale Pie Hall for hosting Our Beer
Festival
Donation to Albert's Horse Sanctuary
A donation towards the Denby Dale Men's Shed
A donation towards the cost of a local schoolgirl's
educational school trip to Bali.
Other notsble activities this year Included:
Brightly coloured wheelie bins in various locations within our
commun¢ly continue to be used to encourage donations lo the
local food bank (The Pantry). These were regularty emptied by
Club members lo deliver supplies to the facilrty which supports
over fifty families and counting in our area who are in dire need

project 'Recyde for Sight. which encourages Ihe collection and
recyding of spectscles and hearin9 aids for use in Ihird world

GP Surgery.
The Club continues to support the Lions Club Inlernational project
'Message in a Bottle, which involves the distribution of a small
capsule wrth a fom7 inside to households where individuals can
store essential infomialion relating to any medical conditions or
medication that would be useful to the emergency seNices who
are aware of and support the initiative.
The Club actively soughl new members during the year with 4
members joining ta￿ng the total membership to 31
Towards the end of the year the Club launched its first Grant
Funding Progfamme which attraded 17 applications from local
charities and community groups. This initiative was in addition to
the vanous grants that wefe distributed throughout the year lo
good causes locally where funds allowed.
The Club successfully applied for and were granted 'malch-
funding with other organisations and local businesses which
faciljtaled Ihe installation of several defibrillators in strategic
locations within the communty
The Club continued to seek and secure sponsorship from local
businesses for its fundraising events
During the yearlhe Club wortted on designing and building a
brand-new websrte wtth Ihe help of a specialist website designer
The Club continued rts practi￿ of displaying Christmas and
Easter Hampers in local businesses as raffle prizes resulting in
addthonal funds for the Club
The Club agreed to sponsor the krt for a local amateur football
team for two seasons
