In compiling this summary of the main activities undertaken for the public benefit in relation to these objeL#s the Trustees of the Denby Dale District Lions Club have taken regard to the guidance issued by the Chartty Commission.. Club Business Meets'ngs were held monthly throughout the period with all Members invited. Trustees Meetings were held bi-monthly for Club Tnjstees only. All meetings were held in person. Fundraising activities engaging wrth our local community were held as usual wrth our main contributs'ons ¢oming from.. Summary of the main activitles undertaken for the public benefit in relation to these objects (in¢lude within this section the statutory declaration that trustees have had regard to the guidance issued by the Charity Commission on publlc benèfit) the Scarecrow Trail around Denby Dale, an outd{r event held in the summer and enjoyed by families from around the district and beyond who follow the trail and judge the scarecrows wthich local households and businesses display in line with a chosen theme for that year the annual tour of the villages with Santa and his sleigh bringing smiles for children (and aduttsl) of all ages_ Other Santa events induded school visits, care home vists and Christmas Fairs. and March saw another successful Denby Da District Lions Beer Festival. the first having been held over thirty years ago also during the summer months we took our very popular coconut shy to various school summer fairs. agricultural sh¢)ws and the like In addition to these major events the Club also saw an increase in income from the use of ts Club volunteers and equipment at events hosted by other community organisations. mainly barbecues, large tents and bars for beer festivals. fairs and fundraising events. Section D Achievements and performance - A food donation to the local food bank for Food Hampers - A donation to Shelley Cricket Club for replacement a8tr0-turf - A donation to the Dale Club for the Denby Ravers (a local Bingo and Social Club for tha elderly) - A donation to the Denby Dale Pie Hall for use of the Hall for our Beer Festival Other notable activities this year included: the deployment of brightly-coloured wheelie bins in various locations wrthin our community to encourage donations to the local food bank (The Panlry). These were regularty emptied to deliver supplies to the facility which was supporting over fifty families and counting in our area who are in dire need. delivering to all primary schools within our district a set of environmental books. "Med at this age-range the books raise awareness of the threats posed to the natural wodd by pollution and global wamiing. A total of 16 sets of books haj been delivered by the year end. our Club continues to participate in the Lions Club International project 'Recycle for Sight, which encourages the collection and recycling of spedacles and hearing aids for use in third world countries We have a well established facility at the local GP Surgery. Our Club continues to support the Lions Club Intemational projed 'Message in a Bottle. which involves the dislribution of a small capsule wrth a fom inside to households where individuals can store essential infomiation relating to any medical conditions or medication that would be useful lo the emergency services who are aware of and support the initiats've.
