We Run Ealing

Charity No: 1179283

Trustees Report FY 2025/26

WE RUN EALING is Ealing’s running charity.

We deliver community-focused running initiatives, most of which are free and open to people of all abilities. We also support and partner with like-minded people and organisations that share our vision.

We aspire to be the UK’s most active running community.

Trustees for the year

Tom Kerry (Chair) Sarah Dhanda Rachel Job Chris Griffin Adam Yeomans (26[th] Jan onwards)

Summary of activity (Apr 25 – March 26)

2025-26 has been a busy year for WE RUN EALING with the launch of new regular social running opportunities as well as one-off events such as the run organised to celebrate the centenary of the Brent River Park.

The first quarter of the new financial year was very much focused on making sure that the post-race actions were completed for the Queen of the Suburbs Ultra-marathon and Trail 25k event and more importantly working with partners to secure its future for 2026. The team spent time looking at feedback from both runners and volunteers, taking on board the learnings to ensure the 2026 event will be even better. For the 2026 Queen of the Suburbs, a licence has been granted to Krono Sports to manage the event. This will ensure the continuation and growth of the event and reduce the financial risk for the Charity. The date has been set as 24 May 2026.

Work also started with Ealing Eagles Running Club to organise the annual training runs for Ealing Half Marathon which provide a valuable training resource for those planning to run the event in September. The second quarter of the year saw lots more guided running activity and training runs, leading up to the Ealing Half Marathon weekend at the end of September. The busy weekend of events features the flagship Ealing Half Marathon, children’s Ealing Mini-Mile races and the Ealing

Feeling 5K. Participants totalled around 6,000, with many more spectators in the event village, in Walpole Park, and along the 13 mile long course.

In the run up to the event, WE RUN EALING worked with Newman Sports Psychology to offer up a free online workshop to all participants to help them develop "Mental Strength for Half Marathons."

The third quarter of the year saw the launch of the new Monthly Social Run. They provide an opportunity for local runners to have company as they follow either 5k or 10k routes on a Sunday morning. These runs have proved increasingly popular, even attracting a group from as far away as Isleworth. The pace is conversational and chatting is encouraged. By the end of the year the Monthly Social Runs are regularly attracting 50 plus runners.

Quarter four saw the start of the WE RUN EALING training runs in support of the Queen of the Suburbs Ultra and Trail 25K and the return of the popular local stations run; a guided running tour with a bit of local history thrown in. Saturday 28 February saw the second annual edition of the WE RUN EALING fundraising quiz at St Barnabas Church in Pitshanger. It was attended by 72 people, supported by ten volunteers and raised over £1,300 for the charity.

WE RUN EALING Website

The website is regularly updated and now contains a useful section of running related resources. This is particularly useful for those who are new to running and looking to find information about how to start.

We have also published our growing collection of local trail running routes, created for our guided Ealing Trail Runs. This library of scenic places to run or walk include detailed route descriptions and links to download maps.

AGM

The WE RUN EALING AGM was held on Mon 15 September and was attended by a large section of those involved in the running community across Ealing. They came along to hear about future strategy and discuss how to better work together to make Ealing a better place to live and run.

Engagement

WE RUN EALING were invited to join the Ealing Regional Parks Community Advisory Group to represent the interest of the running community. Tom Kerry, the WE RUN EALING Chair has been invited to Co-Chair the group and has been advocating to ensure running and walking are included in all plans.

WE RUN EALING continue to engage with several local organisations including:

The WE RUN EALING volunteer network of ambassadors continues to grow. During the year a proactive campaign focused on recruiting and engaging more volunteers to enable us to increase activities and deliver them safely. As our activities continue to grow in attendance, we have introduced new running group guidelines providing more support to our vital volunteer run leaders.

Future Plans

Trustees have been working with an external partner to design a month-long campaign planned for September 2027. Aimed at getting the entire Ealing community walking, jogging and running, WE RUN EALING have begun discussions with potential partners and supporters with an announcement planned for late 2026.
