## **We Run Ealing Charity No: 1179283 Trustees Report FY 2023/24**

## _Trustees for the year_

Nigel Panton (Chair) Kelvin Walker Sarah Dhanda Rachel Job Chris Griffin

## _Background_

The early part of the year was spent focusing on strategy and agreeing the best way to take forward what was then the Ealing Eagles Charitable Foundation. The foundation had been set up as an off shoot of the Ealing Eagles running club and had been focused on the longer-term strategy for the club and looking at establishing a club house and base. Post Covid, it was felt that this was no longer a specific priority and the charity should look at a wider role in terms of partnerships with other organisations within the Borough of Ealing who were also focused on health and wellbeing through the context of

running and walking. A closer relationship was sought with Ealing Half Marathon CIC who had similar aims.

The two organisations worked together throughout the year to agree a joint strategy and action plan which focused on Delivering inclusive community-

focused running activities and related volunteering for people of all ages and abilities in Ealing. The decision was made to rename the charity as We Run Ealing to better represent its broader aims and activities.

## _Summary of activity_

The latter part of the year saw the start of a range of inclusive activities targeted at existing and new runners:

- Trustees built a relationship with Gunnersbury Park CIC during the year which then facilitated the move of the West London 10K to Gunnersbury park as its new home.

- A partnership was developed with Blended Trails to bring the trail-running concept to Ealing, enabling regular pop-up trail running and walking courses plus guided social runs to explore the borough.

- created where approximately 30 people ran from four different parkruns (Gunnersbury, Southall, Osterley and Northala Fields) carrying donations to the Ealing Food Bank.

- A massive collection of running shoes was arranged at local park runs in partnership with Jog On. On the day over 300 nearly new and used trainers were collected

- 4 Training runs were organised and led by WRE for the Ealing Half Marathon covering different parts of the course. The runs attracted over 150 runners.

- Advice and guidance was given to the trustees of Boston Manor Park who were keen to ensure that runners and walkers could make best use of their newly renovated trails and paths

Towards the end of the year it was agreed to recruit a team of ambassadors to cover each of the 7 seven neighbourhoods of Ealing Borough. 12 Ambassadors were recruited and have already started to make an impact and in their local areas and to further spread the word about We Run Ealing.
