THE ROYAL GRAMMAR SCHOOL. HIGH WYCOMBE FOUNDATION CIO INDEPENDENT AUDITORS. Reasonable assurance is a high level of assurance, bul is not a guarantee that an audit conducted in accordance with ISAS IUKI will a￿layS delect a material misstatement when il exists. Misstatements can arise from fraud or error and are considered material if, individually or in the aggregate, they could reasonably be expected lo influence the economic decisions of users taken on the basis of these financial statements. Irregularities, including fraud, are instances of non-compliance with 18WS and regulations. We design procedures in line with our responsibilities, outlined above, to deleel material misstatements in respect of irregularities, including fraud. The extent to which our procedures are capable of delecling irregularities, induding fraud is detailed below". Enquiring of management around actu81 and potential litigation and c18ims Reviewing board meeting minutes of meetings of those charged with govemance Reviewing financial statement disclosu￿$ and lesling to supporting documentation lo assess Compliance with applicable laws and regulations Performing audit work over the risk of management override of controls, induding testing of journal entries and other adjustments for appropriateness, evaluating the business rationale of significant transactions outside the normal course of business and reviewing accounting estimates for bias. As part of 8n audit in accordance with ISAS IUKI, we exercise professional judgement and maintain professional scepticism throughout the audit. We also." Identify and 8ssess the risks of material misstalemenl of the financial statements, whether due lo fraud or error, design and perform audit procedures responsive to those risks, and obtain audit evidence that is sufficient and appropriate lo provide a basis for our opinion. The risk of not detecting a material misstatement resulting from fraud is higher than for one resulting from error, as fraud may invohie collusion, forgery, intentiOn81 omissions, misrepresentations, or the override of intemal control Obtain an understanding of internal control relevant lo the audit in order lo design audit procedures that are appropriate in the Circumstan￿g, bul not for the purpose of expressing an opinion of the effectiveness of the charity's internal control Evaluate the appropriateness of aceounling policies used and the re8s0nableness of aecounting estimates and related disclosures made by the Trustees Conclude on the appropriateness of the Trustees, use of the going concern basis of accounting and, based on the audit evidence obtained, whether a material uncertainty exists related to events or conditions that may cast significant doubt on the charity's ability to eontinue as a going concern. If we conclude that a material uncertainly exists, we are required lo draw attention in our Auditors, Report to the related disclosures in the financial statements or, if such disclosures a￿ inadequate, lo modify our opinion. Our conclusions are based on the audit evidence obtained up to the date of our Auditors, ReFX)rt. However, future events or eondilions may Cause the charity lo cease to continue as a going concem. Evaluate the overall presentation, structure and eontent of the financial slatemenls, including the disc105ures, and whether the financial statements represent the underlying transactions 8nd events in 8 manner that achieves fair p￿sentatIon. We communieate with those ch8rged with governanee regarding.. among other matters, the planned scope and liming of the audit and significant audit findings, induding any significant defieiencies in internal control that we identify during our audit. Bec8use of the inherent limitations of an audit, there is a risk that we will not detect all irregularities, including those leading to a material misstalemenl in the financial statements or non-compliance with regulation. This risk increases the more that compliance with a law or regulation is removed from the events and transactions reflected in the financial statements, as we will be less likely to become aware of instances of non-compliance. The risk is also greater ￿gardIng irregularities occurring due lo fraud rather than error, as fraud involves intentional concealment, forgery, collusion, omission or misrepresentation. Page11
