To promote improve, develop, maintain, and advance education and the
arts for the public benefit, in particular through the promotion, support and
encouragement of the art of music and all other art forms and specifically,
but not exclusively, by commissioning or supporting the commissioning of
musical works for the viola with or without other instruments or voices
which in connection therewith may include public performances,
masterclasses, coaching, open rehearsals, workshops, talks and lectures,
outreach programmes, publication of scores and parts and recordings.
ln accordance with the objects of the Charity, the past underwritten viola
concerto from CASSANDRA MILLER received further performances
including its German premiere (June 2024, Ludwigsburg Festival
Orchestra) and at the BBC Proms (July 2024, BBC Philharmonic
Orchestra).
As part of V10LA, the charity’s project aim to create ten new major works
for viola and orchestra by 2030, Magnus Lindberg’s Viola Concerto
received its world premiere in Helsinki (February 2024, Finnish Radio
Symphony Orchestra).
The charity held a VCC reception in partnership with Faber Music to raise
funds for the inaugural VCC Composer Prize, launched in the 24/25
Season.
The trustees have had regard to the guidance issued by the Charity
Commission on public benefit.

during the year
The BBC Proms and German premieres of the Cassandra Miller Viola
Concerto given by Lawrence Power and the BBC Philharmonic /
Ludwigsburg Festival Orchestra respectively, together with the world
premiere of the Magnus Lindberg Viola Concerto with Finnish Radio
Symphony Orchestra all achieved critical acclaim.
The Lockdown Commissions continue to inspire young viola players
globally, with new performances of the works.
