## **Trustees Report to the Plymouth City Brass AGM For the year ended 31st October 2025** ## **To be held at the Soundhouse on Thursday, 23rd April 2026** The Trustees have faced several difficulties over the last year. Meetings were held on 20[th] January 2025 and 7[th] April 2025 and record of these meetings held on file. A turbulent period followed the last meeting, with Trustee resignation being received from the Charity lead, Ken Ayre who had been a Trustee since 2018 and whose expertise was a significant loss to the organisation. Resignations followed from Sally Jeffery (Trustee since 2018) Julie Tucker, and Roger Rowland, this left a minimum quorum of three Trustees remaining in post. Both Alan Gears and Gary Pumford have since suffered poor health and Maurice Craze has remained in post pending the AGM and appointment of a new board of Trustees. Although statutory reporting to the Charity Commission has occurred in a timely manner, the Trustees are not in a strong position to fulfil the duties and responsibilities of Trustees Plymouth City Brass as required by the Charity Commission. However, following the model of other bands who hold charitable status, the PCB Committee have tabled that an Executive Committee of Trustees are appointed from the existing Committee, supplemented where possible by independent members holding relevant experience and expertise, to maintain an overview of the Governance and management of Plymouth City Brass and fulfil the statutory charity role. Training and guidance on the statutory responsibilities of Charity Trustees is available to those who are willing to commit to the Charity Trusteeship of Plymouth City Brass. Sources include the Charity Commission, Brass Bands England, National Council for Voluntary Organisations and relevant others. New Trustees will need to be registered with the Charity Commission on appointment, through their website.
