## **2) Last AGM Minutes:**

All in order

## **3) Matters Arising:**

Nothing raised

## **4) Chair Report:**

Mr Choksi thanked all those who attended this AGM. He emphasised how important they all are to make this community centre effective. Special thanks and mentions to Alan, Jeanne and Ken who give up a lot of their personal time for the centre, including the great work that is being done with the Place of Welcome. Specifically, Alan and Ken for the maintenance of the building, with the lighting, flooring and painting, etc. Also, great thanks to Jane for assisting with the banking and finances of the centre. Mr Choksi is looking forward to the year ahead and what the centre can achieve.

## **5) Treasurers Report:**

This year we have maintained our income from Hiring the Centre to the Groups that use the Centre. We have had a massive increase of Grants to the Centre for the Building and Place of Welcome. The grants have increased from £601.75 to £9,820.00. This is made up mainly of £8,383.00 from Jigsaw Housing for the Place of Welcome activities, £992.00 from Autotrader for the LED lighting.

We have ringfenced money for the Place of Welcome and the Defibrillator totalling about £9,000.00.

Our closing balances on 31st March 2023 was £22,090.13 in the Current Account and £7,541.32 in the Deposit Account.

The Groups using the Centre during the year have continued to have a core that included The Good Shepherd Church, Place of Welcome and the 12th Ashton Scout Group. We said goodbye to the Dance Group and the Boxercise and said hello to the Active Tameside, Discocise, Ashton Ukes and will be welcoming the Tameside Bloom Toddler Classes from September 2023. We are hosting the local councillor for his weekly surgeries.

We have also had several private birthday, engagement and wedding receptions during the year.

**Richmond Street Community Centre (Registered Charity Number 1179193) Minutes from AGM 20/07/23 1900 hours**

This year the Richmond Street Community Centre has continued to serve the local people of Ashton and especially the Crowhill Area. We have maintained and improved the Centre to enhance the activities of the various groups that use the Centre.

The building has had a new floor and covering in the corridor outside the kitchen and meeting room renewed. The Scout storeroom has had the floor reinforced, and the shelving remade. The Meeting room has been decorated and the walls lined to protect them. We have now replaced all the light fitting with LED units.

In the near future, we plan to redecorate the Main Hall. We are in the process of cleaning and polishing the floors throughout the building.

I would like to mention here the Place of Welcome Group that meet here every Thursday (10.00am to 1.00pm). Over the year they have grown from a group of about 40 to a regular 55 to 60 people attending each week. They have had weekly activities including Tai Chi, Quizzes, Bingo, Meals, and refreshments, visiting speakers and raising nearly £3,500 for 4 charities, Daisy Nook House (£520), Parkinson (£706), Breast Cancer (£900) and Macmillan (£1373). The group have a gang of volunteers who help week in and week out, the include Jackie, Joy, Linda, Jeanne, John and Dave and anyone else, who I have missed. Thanks to everyone who makes it enjoyable and rewarding.

I would like to thank everyone who has helped in anyway during the year to ensure that the Richmond Street Community Centre continues to be relevant to the local community. From those who help maintain the Centre, cleaning (Jeanne, Joy and Irene), Electrical (Alan), Decorating (Great gang too many to mention by name) to cutting the grass (Dominic).

## **9) Any other business**

Matter raised by Mr Fish – Looking at getting the internet installed through the company 3. This would be free for two years, with free equipment. This was agreed by the committee.

## **Richmond Street Community Centre (Registered Charity Number 1179193) Minutes from AGM 20/07/23 1900 hours**

Another matter raised was Neighbourhood Watch and Bee Loop which could be introduced to the committee through the centre. The 24[th] July there was a “bike marking” event taking place. All committee agreed this would be a good idea to introduce.

## **10) Closing Remarks**

Mr Choksi reiterated his thanks and high hopes for the year ahead

## **Date of next meeting to be confirmed**

Yours faithfully

Dom Marks
