Cambourne United Football Club (the “Club”) is affiliated to Cambridgeshire Football Association (FA).
Trustees who are also members of the Club Management Committee are required to also complete the FA Safeguarding for Committee Members online training module.
The Club has attained FA Charter Standard, the ‘kitemark’ for English football clubs. The FA Charter Standard is subject to an annual “health check” by Cambridgeshire FA.

All coaches or other club officials with contact with children must complete a Disclosure Barring Service (DBS) check. This must be renewed every three years.

The Club provides dedicated and focussed opportunities to learn and play football for girls, boys, women and men of all ages in Cambourne and surrounding areas, regardless of gender, race, ability/disability, or sexual orientation.
In addition, the Club provides opportunities for members to complete courses in coaching and refereeing, and engage in activities which can contribute to the attainment of the Duke of Edinburgh Award.

In the period, all activities were provided, administered and governed by unpaid volunteers, apart from those acting as referees, who were paid expenses in line with FA standards.

Section D Achievements and performance
Summary of the main achievements of the charity during the year
In the year to 31 May 2021, the Club continued to achieve its aim of increasing participation, in order to fulfil its Objects. Despite lockdown, we have had an excellent fourth season (2020/21) in which the club and its members have continued to increase throughout the year. In total, we have had over 300 boys, girls, men and women playing football with Cambourne United. Of these, 237 were fully signed-on members, with the remainder attending the FA JustPlay sessions or Wildcats sessions throughout the season. This is 30% up on previous seasons, with the addition of one more girls’ team and the growth of the Wildcats group.
One of our biggest successes this year has been the Wildcats Girls’ group. We have been involved with the FA’s Wildcats initiative since the scheme’s inception, and are now in our fourth year. Wildcats is an initiative from the FA to inspire girls to be involved in the sport and to provide girls with regular opportunities to play football in organised sessions in a fun and engaging environment created exclusively for girls. We now regularly have over 50 girls aged 4 to 10 attending, and have had over 60 girls attend several times in the last few months. Our strong partnership with the FA has been maintained as the club retained its Charter Standard accreditation and its status as an FA Just Play centre for both men’s and women’s football. This season (2020/21), the club comprised 18 teams/groups playing regularly (up from 17 last season). The Club continues to help the FA in bringing courses to Cambourne with logistical and administrative support. The Club’s coaching staff has increased to support the increased uptake and the Club has had more new coaches complete the requisite FA coaching certificates. The Club continues to support any coaches who wish to improve their coaching skills, both paying for courses and through participation in the FA’s Mentoring Scheme. The Club continued working with the other football groups and clubs in Cambourne to create one united club in the town, as it is the Club’s strong belief that one dedicated club would better serve the needs of children and adults alike. As at the date of the report, it was agreed by all parties to launch the new club to be called Cambourne Town FC for the start of the 2021/22 season, from 30[th] June 2022. A final Cambourne United FC AGM was held on 30th June 2022 and motions passed to form Cambourne Town FC. As such, the charity will be renamed in line with this resolution to Cambourne Town FC and new trustees will be appointed to reflect the needs of the larger club.

To the Trustees of Cambourne United Football Club
We report on the accounts of the charitable trust, Cambourne United Football Club (reg. no.: 1179148) for the year ended 31[st] May 2021.
Respective responsibilities of Trustees and Examiner
As the charity’s Trustees, you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts. You consider that an audit is not required for the year ended 31[st] May 2021 under section 144 of the Charities Act 2011 (the “Act”), and that an independent examination is needed.
It is our responsibility to:

i) examine the accounts (under section 145 of the Act),
-
ii) to follow the procedures laid down in the General Directions given by the Charity Commission (under section 145(5)(b) of the Act), and
-
iii) to state whether particular matters have come to our attention
Basis of independent examiner’s statement
Our examination was carried out in accordance with General Directions given by the Charity Commission. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and seeking explanations from the trustees concerning any such matters.
The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit, and consequently no opinion is given as to whether the accounts present a ‘true and fair’ view and the report is limited to those matters set out in the statement below.
Independent examiner's statement
In the course of our examination, no matter has come to our attention (other than that disclosed below):

i) which gives us reasonable cause to believe that in, any material respect, the requirements:
-
a. to keep proper accounting records in accordance with section 130 of the Act; and
-
b. to prepare accounts which accord with the accounting records and comply with the accounting requirements of the Act have not been met; or
-
ii) to which, in our opinion, attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached
