## **Trustees Report for Year 01.07.2020 to 30.06.2021** 

Covid and lockdown restrictions made it all but impossible to run our usual fundraising events this year resulting in an inevitable impact on income. 

We are thankful to the generosity of our club members, most of whom chose to gift the cost of their otherwise unused weekly meal cost to the Charitable Trust as meetings for the whole year were held via Zoom. This, together with the limited monies raised from a restricted number of events enabled us to generate income of £21,235.22, significantly less than in the previous year. The impact on the sources of income is clear to see:

We did manage to get Santa out on his float for a few days in the lead up to Christmas, though this had to be cut short as lockdown restrictions tightened. In the autumn under the mistaken belief restrictions were to be eased as we approached Christmas and the New Year, we decided to press ahead with preparations for the Woodcote 10k, a popular event and historically our largest fundraiser. Sadly, this too had to be cancelled at the last minute. We are however indebted to all those runners who gifted their entry fees instead of taking the refund offered. 

Expenses incurred in organising and running these events amounted to £1,967.55 generating a surplus of £19,267.67 which was added to the £7,087.46 carried over from the previous year and available for distribution to good causes. 

All fundraising events were organised and manned by the Club, its members and friends who give their time voluntarily. 

During the year the Club made a total of 42 donations totalling £21,818.78 which are listed below. These comprise a number of local, national and international good causes. Our donations for the eradication of Polio via the Rotary Foundation are match funded by the Melinda and Bill Gates Foundation by a ratio of 2:1, with other donations to support local youth projects as well local community based causes. With Covid 19 impacting many families in Reading, we continued to make regular donations to Reading Food Bank from the monies donated by our club members.
