**SHARED AREA**

Annual report and accounts from the trustees of Shared Area for the reporting year 5[th ] April 2024 - This report complies with the Charities Act 2011.

## **Charitable Purpose and Aims of Shared Area**

The charitable purpose and aim of Shared Area is to provide free education to everyone.

**"To advance the education of the public, in particular but not exclusively, in the government key-stage subjects and curriculums, by the provision of structured educational media and learning resources"**

- Shared Area Governing document

The trustees of Shared Area believe that everybody should have access to free education, regardless of their background, location, or personal circumstance. It is Shared Area's commitment to provide free educational content that is:

## **Accurate,**

## **Correct,**

## and most importantly...

## **Safe!**

**SHARED AREA**

For years, when people needed to learn, they would physically go to a library to search through books. Now, when people need to learn, they use search engines or AI assistants. The result is often a lot of time lost from searching through unrelated or paid-for learning content.

## **Shared Area** is building the **library of the future!**

## **Every lesson,**

## **Imagine a world. A world where education is free!**

## **Verified as safe!**

_There are_ _**8.7 million school children in England !**_

- **4.7m** illion primary school children

- **3.3m** illion secondary school children

- **580,000** independent school children

- **200,000** special needs school children

_**There are 450,000 school teachers in England**_

- 250,000 primary teachers

- 200,00 secondary teachers

_**If each secondary school teacher in England shared one short teaching video, and one test question, on one small topic in their specialist subject area,**_

_**there would be 200,000 Videos and 200,000 Test Questions for GCSE learning!**_

_**Imagine if every teacher in the UK added one new video every year!**_

## **- Primary Objective Safeguarding people**

## Imagine a place that is safe!

## Free from prejudice. Free from discrimination.

A place where every lesson is guaranteed to be: True, Correct, Accurate & non-abusive!

## A place that is safe for everyone to learn regardless of their age, gender or beliefs.

## No lies, no click-bait, no trolls.

## No misinformation.

The ultimate Aim of Shared Area is to provide freely accessible learning and self-testing content for all subjects at all levels.

**Our primary objective** is **Safeguarding** content and users to ensure a safe learning space for everyone.

How we keep it safe, is simple!

If each teacher watches 10 short videos to verify each video is:

Safe for anyone to view, Correct and holds true information Non-offensive, Relevant for the level of study.

We can guarantee that all content is Safe!

Each video will have to be verified by at least 10 teachers to ensure it is Safe For Schools (SFS)! Safe for everyone!

## **- Secondary Objective GCSE learning content**

**Our secondary objective** is to initially focus on the learning requirements of the core GCSE subjects, before expanding subjects and levels.

## _**The average learner will sit around 10 GCSEs. This equals around 400 learning requirements (things that can be tested or observed)**_

**If each teacher recorded one lesson and one test question on their specialist subject,**

**There would be ~500 videos and ~500 test questions For each of the 400 learning requirements!**

Figure.1 shows the number of secondary teachers in England (200,000) compared to the number of learning requirement for 10 GCSE's (400)

(200,000 divided by 400 equals **500 videos for each learning requirement.**

That would be a huge amount of help to those studying GCSEs!)

## **The best thing about Shared Area!**

## Is that it lasts **forever** !

## And it’s **free** !

## To ! **everyone**

Everyone on the globe will soon have a smart device with a screen and internet connection.

## **Everyone will have access forever!**

## **- Tertiary Objective Tags!**

# **Videos will no longer be found by click-bait titles, paid promotions and intrusive advertisements!**

## **But instead found by subject and topic**

Videos will be rated by viewers, with only positive ratings allowed, as negative ratings and comments are not necessary!

By adding not only ratings, but also adding tags, you can truly find the right content that suites your style of learning. Tags like, Funny, short, wordy, demonstration, exciting, pictures, animation.

With over 3Million secondary school children in England, if each child watches and rates just 4 videos then each video will be rated by 60 learners! So when you look for a video, you will find the style you like! Whether that be someone talking to the camera, someone talking over slides, animated videos, or any styles you can imagine...

## **Over the Last year:**

A message from founding trustee **Peter Brewer**

We’re excited to share some key developments in our mission to make high-quality, verified educational content freely accessible for everyone.

## **Website Development**

Our new charity website is now being created. This marks a major milestone—laying the foundation for a platform where learners of all ages can access and contribute to a trusted library of educational videos and resources. The site is designed with accessibility and inclusiveness in mind, with intuitive navigation.

## **BETT UK 2025 – We’re Launching!**

We’re preparing to officially launch the charity at BETT UK, one of the largest educational events in the country. With over 30,000 attendees expected—including educators, institutions, and innovators—this will be a key moment to share our vision, receive feedback, build partnerships, and invite people to get involved.

## **Promotional Videos in Progress**

We’ve begun filming promotional videos to introduce the platform, explain how it works, and show how people can contribute or benefit. These videos will highlight how the platform is built by and for the public—with transparency, trust, and community at its heart.

## **Web Hosting and Infrastructure**

We’ve been investigating different web hosting models to ensure the platform can scale with sustainability. This includes balancing cost, performance, and data privacy —so we can serve users without compromising reliability or ethical standards.

## **Safeguarding and Safety**

A key focus of our work has been defining our safeguarding approach. We are developing clear procedures to ensure all content is safe, appropriate, and supportive for learners of all types and ages. Verified reviewers, transparent reporting tools, and community standards will form a central part of this.

## **Defining Our Service**

We continue to refine what the charity will offer to learners, educators, and supporters. Our vision remains a public-owned, verified, educational space—with no barriers on when, where, or what you can learn.

## **Building the Community**

As we build momentum, we’re also expanding our outreach to schools, colleges, and content creators. If you or your organisation would like to get involved, support our launch, or help verify educational content, we’d love to hear from you.

**Thank you to everyone who has supported us so far. This is just the beginning. Stay tuned for updates—and join us as we build the future of education, together.**

**2025 and beyond!**
