The main activities are as follows: - Provide opportunities for youngsters to play organised football in a safe environment to fulfil their individual and team potential - Increase the number and skill range of coaches - Management of sports pitches and facilities to improve community opportunities for football and non-sporting activities and events - Support a full football pathway at the Club for 7-16± years - Continue to improve all aspects of the training and playing facilities to encourage more youngsters to take up football to lead to a more active and healthier lifestyle. ## Achievement and performance During the 2023-2024 season the Club continued to increase participation by establishing new teams, providing the opportunity for approximately 160 boys and girls to participate in structured football activities. The Junior Section had nine teams who participated in the Wrexham & District Junior Football League. The number of volunteers at the Club increased and additional coaches were recruited and upskilled. The Club had two senior teams with the aim of providing a football pathway for junior players. The senior First Team participated in Tier 3 of Welsh football in the FAW Lock Stock Ardal Northern League and the Reserve Team in the FAW Northern Reserve League The Club held a successful Junior football Festival in June when local teams were invited to participate. Training Facilites During the lighter nights, between April and September that included pre-season training the Club organised weekly training sessions utilising the pitches and grassed areas at our home ground Ponciau Park. During the winter months the Club hired local outdoor and indoor training facilities for all teams at local secondary schools. ## Ground improvements and Equipment Junior plastic goals which were no longer fit for purpose were replaced with more robust aluminium goals. Two pairs of 12ft x 6ft and three pairs of 8ft x 4ft pairs were purchased. Socketed 24ft x8ft aluminium goals were also purchased for the senior pitch. The Club carried out work on the senior football field at the end of the playing season to improve the playing surface. Goal mouth renovations took place and fertiliser was applied to the pitch to boost grass growth. Of pitch/social Facilites The Club used Rhos Snooker and Sports Club for post matchday refreshments for both first team and reserve home fixtures. The venue also supported fund raising initiatives that were well supported by the playing team, committee, and supporters. Larger venues were hired to accommodate social/fund raising events for the junior and senior section of the Club including quiz nights, bingo and race nights. ## Financial Review The cost of hiring winter training venues for all teams was a major drain on the Club’s resources (£10,449). The purchase of kit and equipment was also a significant expense incurred but was offset by a grant from Sportslot. Cash in the bank at the end of the 2023-2024 season was £17,133 in unrestricted funds. The funds are held to meet operational costs and any unforeseen expenditure that may occur. ## Future Plans - Secure funding to replace ground maintenance machinery - In partnership with WCBC complete transfer of assets i.e. ground and changing rooms - Increase number of girls’ teams - Continue to improve all aspects of the playing facilities ## Declaraton The trustees declare that they have approved the trustees’ report above.
