Treasurers Report, 2021 AGM

The Braywick Court School PTA had a successful year in fund raising for the school and was involved in organising some enjoyable events, despite the difficult time due to covid restrictions and lockdown throughout the academic year. The PTA raised a net income of just over £6,000 through its activities and donated around £6,500 to the school. This was made possible due to the appreciated effort and hard work that the dedicated committee members, willing parents, helpful teachers and other PTA supporters, gave freely to make this another successful year for the charity.

Due to social distancing rules, the Christmas Fair was unable to go ahead but was successfully substituted with our “12 days of Christmas event” by far the largest fundraising event of the year, raising over £1500. This was an amazing achievement in very difficult circumstances.

Other successful events that were enjoyed by the children and added to the bank balance were the following events:

- Swimarathon helped raise over £900, another amazing year for that event

- Lockdown clear outs helped us raise over £800 through Bag2School and over £400 in the second hand uniform sales

- The traditional Christmas card project also raised over £500

- The 100 Club was also run again raising almost £500

Obviously, all funds raised by the PTA are spent on, in or around the school, mainly for the benefit and sometimes just the enjoyment of the children. The biggest donation for enhancement of the school during 2020/21 was £2500 towards books for the library which will provide the children with a valuable resource for years to come. Also, just under £850 for a new table tops on the play tables on the balcony and £800 on playground markings which will brighten up many lunchtimes. The play in a day activity was also sponsored by the PTA and enabled parents to watch their children perform once covid restrictions began to lift.

At the close of this financial year (August 2021) the PTA had approximately £16,000 in the bank. With regular commitments on spend of around £1700 a year, for this such as Christmas Crackers, Sports Day Venue and Ice Lollies, PTA membership and Leavers Gifts and an agreement within the team to hold two years of regular committed spend, this leaves us with approx. £12,500 to spend.

We have already made a start to spending this year and have donation just over £5,000 to improve the fencing in the sports playground with some additional netting to try and minimize lost balls moving forward. The work was carried out over the summer holidays and the PTA have re-imbursed the trust for this cost.

During the last financial year, we were very lucky to be given 3 large anonymous donations into the PTA account with the specific spend requirements to be on extra-curricular lessons such as Spanish and Music for all children and most significantly a donation to support Braywick Court sport lessons for all pupils at the leisure center for the next 8 academic years. This money has been ringfenced for this sole purpose but will be shown on our annual accounts for the next 8 years.

I am willing to continue to serve as treasurer for another year but with only 2 years left as a parent of the school, I would like to find a willing volunteer to hand

over the accounts to during the next year to enable me to provide an effective handover before my last academic year at BCS. If anyone is interested in learning more about the role then please let me know.

Finally, I would very much like to take this opportunity to thank Emma and Kim for their hard work as co-Chairs for this financial year in the PTA.

**Give here brief details of any items that the examiner wishes to disclose** .

Braywick Court School PTA is a charity serving the best purpose of pupils’ education and wellbeing in Braywick Court School through hosting a serials of events to collect donations from parents and wider community. This charity was established in 2018 and this year it requires independent examination due to material amount of donation received.

In my opinion, the end of year statement has been properly prepared in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 (“the Act”) and gives a true and fair view of the state of the Charity’s affairs as at 31 August 2021.

The examination was conducted in accordance with applicable law and regulation and is properly planned and performed. Sufficient evidence has been collected to form above opinion.

The charity account is prepared based on receipts and payments. To assess the accuracy of accounts maintenance, I have performed procedures like reviewing supplier invoices and bank statements. Invoices are recorded and paid on a timely manner, receipts are correctly identified and recorded. Bank statements are reconciled. It is also understood that the proposal for each spending is raised at every charity meeting and decision is made in a democratic manner for the best interest of pupils.

Focused examination was undertaken on the large donation received during the financial year. Detailed discussion was carried out with charity chairman and treasurer to understand the necessary steps they have taken before accepting the donation. Evidence shows that the chairman had been working closely with relevant trust and company, where these donation came from, in order to validate these donation in accordance with AML and to avoid risk of fraud. There are also specific purpose of use of these donations for the benefits of pupils, which has been followed by the charity.

Based solely on the work undertaken during the course of the examination:

- I have not identified material misstatements in annual accounts

- The information given in the treasurer’s report is consistent with the annual accounts
