Our main focus is on supporting people with life-changing injuries and long term disabilities, including families with children. Health challenges such as Stroke, MS, Parkinson’s, Spinal Injury, Sight Loss and age-related diseases can often bring depression and mental ill-health too. Our participants are likely to have ridden and owned horses, something they can share with family and friends. We want to train our coaches and volunteers in the needs of this group. ## **Activity 2023-24** We are delighted to welcome Claire Schimmer as a Trustee with effect from 31 October 2023 As a National RDA member group we had seen how Covid fundamentally changed approaches to RDA activities for people living with disability. It also increased awareness of mental health and the importance of accessibility to nature. We had been disappointed not to meet criteria for RDA National Office aimed at RDA new groups, as they could not insure our activities. We have therefore spent time discussing how we wanted to work to support greater inclusivity and the health and wellbeing benefits of access to nature, through horses.
