1 Reference and Administrotivg Information
The registered name of the charity is Friends of Beth￿hern University, GB Charity (the Charity). The
address at which the Charity can be contacted is its registered office. Keyston House, 61 Pulnce Lane,
Bedford, MK41 9AE.

2 Structure, Governance and Managernent
The Charity is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation and on 29 June 2018 it was entered on the
Register of Charit'es held by the Charities Cornmission (England and Vvalesl, registered number
1178996. It is governed by ils Constitution which became effectNe on that dale. New Trustees are
appointed by exisbng Trustees.
The Trustees have given consideration to the risks to which the Charity is exposed and satisf*d
themselves that systems or procedures are in place to manage those risks. Within that reV￿w, the
Trustees reviewed the adequacy of cucfs intemal controls. Approprk41e Insuran￿ cover has been
purchased.
3 Objects and Activities
The object of the Charity is for the publK benefft to advan￿ edu¢atK)n and leaming anywhere in the
world, in particular, but not limited lo, among the people of the Holy Land iTrespecb"ve of their religion,
gendef, ethnicity, age or sexual orientstKsn. The Charity may not authorise an applution of its assets for
purposes which are not charitable.
In particular, the Charity has power to support Bethlehem Unwersty and all similar institutions wf(h wh￿h
Bethlehem University has formal and infomal relationships for the benefit of humanity. The Charity has
8ethlehem University as its prime beneficiary.
The Trustees have complied w¢lh their duty to have due regard to public benefit guidance produced by
the Charity Comrnission.
Funds are raised by donations from benefactors.
4 Achigvements and Perfonnance
Donations during the year included £200.000 from the C]ewer Community Fund. Other donations have
been made by standing order, through the Charrty's own page on the Bethlehem University website
Iwww.belhlehem.edulFOBU￿Bl or on r￿lpt of issues of Bethlehem UnNersity News. There is close
contact with several members of staff at Bethlehem University.
5 Flnancial Review
During the year, donatM)ns of £225.691 12019. £79.205} and grft aid of £2,205 12019: £2,814) were
received. Donations of £227,459 12019.. £81.485} were Made io Bethlehem University. After expenses,
there was a deficit of £992 {2019." £1,192}.
Al the end of the year, the Charity had nel assets of £1,112 {2018. £2,104)-

6 ReseThes Policy
The Trustees will, in future years, build up reserves so that, at the end of any financial year, there are
sufficient reserves lo carry out the proposed activities for the following year.
7 Indepgndent Examlnatlon
Richardson Watson & Co has merged with Mcx)rgate Chartered Accountants and has therefore resigned
as Independent Examiners of the Chaty. Moorgate is a trading name of Moorgate Accountancy Limited
which is a registered ststutory auditor The Trustees have appointed Moorgale Accountancy Limrted as
Independent Examiners of the Charity'sTrustees' Report and Financial Statements.

I report to the Trustees on my examinalion of the financial statements of Friends of Bethlehem University. GB
Charity I'the Charity) for the year to 31 December 2020, which are set oul on pages 5 to 7.
Responsibilities and basis of rewrt
As the Iruslees of the Charty, you are responsible for the preparation of the financial ststements in accordance
with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 I'the ACYI.

I have completed my examination. I confim that no material matters have come to my attention in connection

1 Trustees. responsibilities
The Trustees are responsible for preparing the Trustees, Report and Financial Statements in accordance
with applicable 18w and United FQn9dom Acco¥Jnting Standards (United Kingdom Generally Accepted
Accounting Practice). The law applicable to chanb.es in England and Wales requires the Trustees to
prepare financial statements for each financial year wh￿h give a true and fair view of the state of affairs of
the charity as at the balance sheet date and of the incoming resources and application of resour￿S.
including the income and expenditure, for that year.
In preparing the financial statements, the Trustees are required to
- select suitsble accounting policies and apply them consistenty..

make judgements and esbmates that are reasonable and prudent
state whether applicable accounting stsndards have been followed, subject tr) any departures disclosed
and explained in the financial sl8tements'. and
prepare the financial statements on the going concem basis unless it is inappropriate to presume that the
charity will continue in operation.
The trustees are responsible for keeping proper a￿oUntIng records that disclose wrth reasonable accuracy
at any time the financial position of the charity and enable them to ensure that the financial statements
comply with the Charities Act 2011, the charib.es (Accounts and Reportsl Regulations and the provisions of
its constitution. They are also responsible for safeguarding the assets of the company and for tsking
reasonable steps for the prevention and detectson of fraud and other irregularities.
2 Accounting policies
The principal accounting policies adopted, judgments and key sources of estimab.on of uncertainty in the
preparation of these financial statements are as follows.
3 Basis of preparation
These Financial Statements have been prepared under the historical cost convention and in accordance
with Accounb"ng and Reporting by Charities.. Statement of Recommended Practi￿ aplicable to charities
preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the United
Kingdom and Republic of Ireland IFRS 102} leffectsve 1 January 20191 (Charitses SORP IFRS 1021} and
the Charities Act 2011.

There were no employees during the ￿riod.
