B-Row participated in activities associated
with the Birmingham Commonwealth
Games which promoted awareness of and
access to water sports in general and
rowing in particular. These included:-
1.
A Commonwealth Games arts
festival held at Edgbaston Reservoir
during which B-Row ran taster
sessions for local people who didn’t
have access to the Commonwealth
games events. Adults and children
tried rowing on the water and on
rowing ergometers.
2.
Rowing taster and learn to row
courses for adults and juniors from
the local area around Edgbaston
Reservoir which was linked to
continuing participation opportunity.
3.
In the spring of 2023 B-Row
delivered rowing sessions as part of
the post Games legacy programme.
Sport Birmingham ran the
Birmingham Schools Games at
Alexander Stadium, the athletics
venue for the Commonwealth
games in 2022.
In August 2022 B-Row ran the annual
series of summer holiday rowing courses| |||for juniors in Birmingham and the
surrounding area.
Young people who have been introduced to
water sports in previous years and had
continued to participate have helped with
the delivery of some of these sessions and
have started to develop coaching skills;
technical, communication, planning and
leadership.
The activities delivered are generally
subsidised by grant aid from third parties
and the partner organisations helping to
