## Hearts and Homes 

## Chairperson's report for 2024 

In March 2024, the Syrian family supported the charity under the Community Sponsorship moved from Bidford on Avon the Stratford Upon Avon. Now having three children the two-bedroomed bungalow leet through Hearts and Homes was considered unsuitable to their needs. They are now living in three -bedroomed social housing. The family continues to receive help from a trustee. Hearts and Homes is also providing some support to a Syrian lady with two children living in Alcester. 

In 2024 the main emphasis of the charity's work was supporting Ukrainian refugees living in South Warwickshire and Wychavon districts. With the refugees need for conversational English no longer as necessary, most enrolled on college ESOL courses and employment specific English courses. Hearts and Homes provided grants to the refugees towards the costs of career focussed courses. The charity also continued to help refugees in helping to moving from hosts to independent accommodation. The help included identifying used furniture and moving it to new accommodation It also provided small grants towards the costs of setting up a new home. The bungalow rented by the charity was sub-let with the landlord's permission to a Ukrainian refugee. 

In order to raise funds to support refugees Hearts and Homes organised several fundraising events, including a concert, coffee morning and charity stall. 

Heart and Homes plans to continue it's activities in 2025
