CHAIRMAN'S REPORT FOR 2021
On 4[th] March, 2021, after four years of dedicated and determined work, the charity welcomed a Syrian refugee family, c mother and two boys under eight years, under the Home Office's Community Sponsorship Scheme, which is part of the Person's Resettlement Programme. Hearts and Homes was the first to host a family under the programme in Warwicksh
The Trustees, Management Committee undertook its contractual obligations by: opening a bank account for the family, family for Universal Credit and Child Benefit, attending Job Centre Plus interviews, registering with medical and dental p the boys for school and pre-school place. From charity funds interpreters were supplied, a laptop and smart phone, broa telephone were supplied, public transport costs were funded and six hours of additional, private English language tuitio provided. In addition, the house supplied was made comfortable and improvements were funded by the charity.
Trustees, Management Committee and volunteers worked together to assist the family to understand its new environm and find help with simple tasks and demands. The support provided assisted the family to overcome the challenges of country, unable to speak English and living in a different culture. The family was helped to make contact with other Syr in nearby Stratford upon Avon and Evesham. A social event was organised and funded.
A daughter to the family was born in December 2021.
