AGM 2021 ## **Chair's Report for year ending 31[st] . December 2020** Having secured a three-years lease from December on a property which would provide suitable accommodation for a Syrian refugee family, the trustees were able to proceed with submitting an application to the UK Home Office to host a family under the Community Sponsorship Programme. The application was approved in February 2020. Unfortunately the March lockdown ordered by the British Government in response to the Covid-19 pandemic meant the Vulnerable Persons Resettlement Scheme was suspended. After nine months of uncertainty, the trustees were informed in November 2020 that flights were resuming and the programme would continue. Hearts and Homes was asked to re-submit its application, which was promptly approved and that a family would be allocated to the charity in early 2021. The Covid -19 lockdown meant that the charity was unable to undertake further fund raising activity. However, the trustees were satisfied that there were already sufficient funds to fulfil the financial requirements for hosting a refugee family, as required by the Home Office.
