1. Citizenship.

The Club continues to support local voluntary and youth organisations. It has worked with a number of local schools, particularly on environmental projects to encourage the teaching of care for our community.

2. Promoting the Voluntary Sector.

Our Club members have become more visible in the community this year through a new website and use of community social media posts. Being visible has promoted the charity as an example of a strong volunteering ethos in our town.

Summary of the main activities undertaken for the public benefit in relation to these objects (include within this section the statutory 4. Relief of Poverty. declaration that trustees have had regard to the guidance issued by the Charity Commission on public benefit)

Relief of poverty is being tackled through donations to local good causes via the Club’s robustgrantgiving policy. The Club has donated to the Lions Clubs International (LCI) disaster relief fund.

5. Improving Health.

The Club continues to promote and undertake the ‘Message in a Bottle’ (MiaB) & ‘Spectrek’ health projects. MiaB are donated to the local surgery. Thousands of pairs of used spectacles were collected and delivered to Chichester Lions Club for central processing, including for onward delivery to international eye health projects.

6. Healthy Recreation.

The Club has promoted healthy recreation and the environment through a book project with local primary schools. This project has encouraged stewardship of the environment by allowing children involved to learn more about the world around them..

Volunteers continue to be essential for their fantastic support to Club activities, working alongside members to run the second-hand bookshop and to man fundraising stalls at town / school / village fetes. The Club’s volunteer support has increased significantly this year. Our bookshop team works hard to ensure our volunteers feel valued and are recognised for the key role they play.

Section D Achievements and performance

Summary of the main achievements of the charity during the year

  1. Support to Fabric of the Community - A number of Club members attended training at Warminster Railway Station to become community volunteers. The members considered potential projects at the railway station in 2026 to involve young people in the town.

  2. Support to Community Safety - Our Message in a Bottle project continues to support vulnerable members of the community by enabling them to have crucial information available for emergency services. The Club has also granted funds to Wiltshire Bobby Van Trust who focus on supporting the elderly from scams.

  3. Support to the International Community - The Club was proud to support a local individual with man hire to ensure he could make a number of trips to the Ukrainian border. Essential items for Ukrainian children at a refuge in Poland were delivered.

  4. Support to Youth in the Community. The Club donated funds to local children’s charities. Links were also developed with several local primary schools to establish the best way that the Club can support them with educational aims.

  5. Support to the Elderly and Disadvantaged in the Community. The Club continued to support the local elderly and disadvantaged members of the community through welfare donations and directly to Warminster & District Foodbank. Our Lions Christmas Float visited a number of local care homes to bring good cheer to the elderly in the festive season.
