Horsecastle Evangelical Church was registered as a CIO in June 2018.

With regards to the charity commissions guidance on the public benefit the charity this year has carried out the following a ctivities that further the Charity's objectives.

Gatherings of the Church

We began 2021 having to deal with the 3[ rd ] national lockdown. We took the decisions, in line with government regulations, that we would continue to gather in-person on a Sunday morning. Pre booking was requested, and social distancing was maintained throughout. The gatherings continued to be livestreamed on YouTube.

We continued to make changes to our gatherings as the road map allowed, the key dates being 17[ th ] May, 21[ st ] June and 4[ th ] July.

We had to move our children’s provision back online for the period of lockdown 3 (Jan to April). From 12[ th ] April we moved back in person for the children’s work.

We had post gathering Zoom Coffee and Chat most weeks until the end of may. to allow people to catch up with one another.

Home groups and Prayer meetings continued on Zoom eventually moving to in person or hybrid from September.

For our Easter day celebration, we moved out into the carpark so we could sing together.

On Sunday 12[ th ] September we had a picnic in the local park after our gathering to give time for people to be together following the enforced separation.

We held a Harvest thanksgiving on 3[ rd ] October to which we did a leaflet drop to houses in the neighbourhood. Although not as many came as in previous years it was a well-attended event all things considered.

Our Christmas services were back to ‘normal’ with the exception being our carols service which we held in the car park again as some people enjoyed the experience the previous year. Despite it being cold, a good number of visitors were amongst us.

From Sunday 5[ th ] September we began to remove many of the COVID restrictions. We took a step-by-step approach over several weeks so people could get used to being together in a building with distancing a mask wearing.

Outreach

We took the decisions not to restart any of our other ministries until we had got back to ‘normal’ on Sunday mornings.

Our coffee morning restarted in August, with Toddlers, Dads and Toddlers and Friday club (for 7-11 years olds) restarting in the autumn.

We also held a carol service at Strawberry Gardens retirement home.

Other ministries

The Church continues to support other ministries through prayer, financial support, and practical help.

We gave over 10% of the church’s income to other ministries based both in the UK and abroad.

A significant gift was made to a church in Peru to help them deal with the COVID situation.

Several of the members of the church supported other local churches by taking services and helping at church activities.

Community use of the building

Community use of the building dramatically reduced due to COVID. At the beginning of the year, we hosted the Strawberry line café AGM and an Avon Ornithological Group meeting.

Home Start had a training session at the church in September, then two weeks later had its AGM at the chapel on 14[ th ] October.

The WI were due to have their monthly meeting at the chapel but only held one in March, the rest being cancelled due to COVID.

Church Business

We held a Church member meeting on 29[ th ] September

Safeguarding

There have been no safeguarding concerns relating to children or vulnerable adults during 2020.

Policies

Policies were reviewed as required and some minor changes were made.
