The lan and Clare Mattioli Charitsble Trust was established by the Mattioli family in 2016. Primarily to help
enhance the Ilves and opportunities of all people, and in particular those from communities and socitreconomlc
groups who are often side lined and struggle to access opportunities for advantsrnent, personal growth and to
fully partscipate in society.
The Charity supports individuals and groups better their outcomes by grant giving for activities relating to the
improvetnent of social welfsie through the piovision of health, iecieational and leisure activities, education.
researoh, employment and e$tabli$hing connections.
Through our charitable activities we hope lo provide opportunities for those in need be that because of youth,
age, infirmity, disability, poverty or economic ciicutnstance to fulty parbcipate in a caring and cornpassionate

responsibility. independence and compassion.

Public benefit statement
The trustees have paid due iegaid to guidance issued by the Charity Commission in deriding what activities the
charity should undertake.
Achlevements and performance
During the year the charity ￿¢ewed cash donations of £43.442, inclusive of Gift Aid. and gifts ol investments ol
£1,592.000. These donations together with investment income generated of £41,246 ￿SUmed in total incoming
resources of £1.678,688.
During the year the charty incurred chaiilable expenditure of £220,520 in accordance with the purposes oullined
above.
ADMINISTRATION
During the year the charity tnaintained and added to it5, website continuing to highlight the good work it carrie5
out and causes it supports. Throughout the year we have undertaken outreach activity bringing together
charrties, clvlc groups and indlviduals to enable rn0￿ people lo acTrss support.

Th8 charity splits its reserves between cash and sh8res. Peishing Securities Ltd, Rav8nscroft Investments IUKI
Ltd and Thomas Grant & Company Ltd 8Cts as custodians of rt's investments.
The general fvnd is unrestricted and represents the totsl reserves of the ¢h8rity. The level of this fund will vary
depending on donations received and the level of expenditure.
Th8 tru8t8es has assessed the major risks to which the charity is expo88d, and are satisfied that Sy8t8ms are in
place to mitigate exposure to the major risks.

Future plans
The charity remains activè in planning and delivering support in line with its charitable objectives. Funding
provided by the Matlioli family has been enhanced following the sale of Matlioli Woods PLC to the prnfate equity
fimi Pollen Street, strengthening the charrty's ability to sustain and expand Its activrties.
The charity continues to 5UPPOrt the folbwing key projects and commitrnents".
One Roof Lelcester
The charity continues it5 SUPPOrt for One Roof Leieester, which is developing an existing property to provide
accommodation and support for people experiencing homelessness, enabling Ihern to rebuild their lives and
regain independence.
Planned expendrtuie relating to this project during the forthcorning year 15 estirnated to be approximately
£350,000.
Leicester Cathedral Heritage and Leaming Centre
The Le1￿$ter Cathedral Heritage and Learning Centre and the fvll intemal refurbishrnent of Leicester Cathedral
have now been completed. This project was supported by funding from the National Lottery Heritage Fund. the
David Wilson Foundation, the Samworth Foundation, and the charty, among others.
The completed works ensuie that the fabric of the Cathedi81 is fit for purpose and capable of supporting its wide-
ranging heritage. educational, civic. and community activitses for the next 100 years. serving the diverse
comrnunitie5 of Leicester and beyond.
Into University Lei¢e$ter
The charity continues to support Into University Leicester. a collaborative Initiative involving the Randall
Foundation, De Monffort University. the University of Leicester. and the charity. The programme piovides after-
s¢hool academic support. mentoring. and coaching to young people. many of whom will be the first in their family
to attend higher education.
The programrne provide5 Participants wrth a strong foundation from which to pursue and achieve their atnbition
of entering university and progressing into further education and employment.
LOROS Hospice- Tree of Life Initiative
In response to the financial ¢hallenges fa¢ing hospi￿$ nationwide. the charity worked with LOROS Hospice to
develop the Tree of Life fundraising Initiative. Through18n Mattioli's connections within LOROS 8nd the wider
business comtnunity, the charity cornmi5sioned and rnanufactured 5tsinles5 sleel OTree of Lifeo ariwoiks,
available for support V18 the charity's website.
The Tree of Life rep￿SentS a weeping willow and allows individuals, farnilies. and corporate supporters to make
donations in exchange for a peisonalised leaf fLKed to the structure. Once fulty completed, the installation will
hold approximately 2,500 leaves and is expected to generate in the region of £1 million in donations for LOROS.
The charity records ils special thanks to the artist Jason Sweeney and the Samworth famity for their continued
5UPPOrt of thi5 initiative.
Lei¢ester Police Memorial and Wellbeing Garden
As of January 2026. the charity completed the relurbishment of the Leicester Police Wellbeing and Memorial
Gaiden Iwith images available on the charity's website). The garden required significant renovation to ensuie it
could continue to serve as a place of rernernbran￿ and wellbeing for the next 50 years.
The project was delivered on time and wrthin budget, with approximately £100.000 raised through the support of
national and local oiganisations and indNidual donors. This funding, together with contributions from the chaiity,
enabled the SUC￿$$fUl completion of the works. The charity extends its thanks to all those who supported this
Important project.

The law applicable to charities in England and Wales requires the trustees to prepare financial statements for each
financial year which give a tiue and fair view of the State of affairs of the chaTty and of the incorning resources and
application of resources of the charity for that year.

Benefit Entity as defined by FRS 102.
The financial staternents are prepared in sterling, which is the functional currency of the charity. Monetsry
atnount5 in these financial statetnents are rounded to the nearest £.
The financial statements have been prepared under the historical cost convention. The principal accounting
policies adopted a￿ set out below.
1.2 Golng concern
At the tirne of approving the financial staternent8, the trustees have a reasonable expectation that the ¢haTity
has adequate ￿$oUr￿$ to continue in operational existence for the foreseeable future. Thus the trustees
continue to adopt the going Con￿[n basis of accounting in preparing the finanaal staternents.
1.3 Charitable funds
Unrestiicted funds are available for use at the discretion of the trustees in furtheran￿ of their charitable
obje¢tives.

Cash donations are recognised on receipt. other donations are recognised once the charity has been notified

1.5 Expenditure
Expenditure is accounted for on an acttuals basis.

Financial instruments are recognised in the tharity's b81ance sheet when the charity become8 party to the
contractual provisions of the instrument.
Financial assets and liabilities are offset, with the net amounts presented in the financial Statements. when
there is a legally enforceable right to set off the recognised amounts and there is an Intents"on to settle on a net
basis or to realise the asset and settle the liability simultaneousty.

ale considered to be relevant. Actual results rnay differ frorn these estirnate5.
The estimates and undedying assumptions are reviewed on an ongoing basis. Revisions to accountr.ng
e5timstes are iecognised in the period in which the estimate is revised where the ievision affects onty that
period, or in the period of the revision and future periods where the revision affects both Current and futu
