||Sons, who generously<br>carried the work|
|---|---|
||out atcost price. This now provides a|
||clear and safe path around the pocket|
||path for people ofall abilities, to enjoy the|
||wild Sower meadow and the riverside<br>with|
||its associated<br>wildlife and insects.|
||3.River Fly Surveys and Oxygen Level|
||Surveys|
||We have now undertaken<br>surveys for a|
||year now, on a monthl'y<br>basis, ofriver fly|
||populations<br>in our stretch ofthe River|
||Waveney. The results have been|
||submitted<br>toa countrywide<br>database and|
||helped to monitor<br>river health throughout|
||the country in conjunction<br>with the|
||Environment<br>Agency.|
||ln addition to the River Fly Surveys we|
||have now signed up for a 5year Oxygen|
||Level Survey in collaboration<br>with the EA|
||who kindly donated the testing equipment|
|,|to achieve this. We carry out a reading|
||once a week atthree points along our|
||stretch ofthe RiverWaveney,<br>this has|
||already proved its worth<br>in helping to|
||identify 2or3possible pollution<br>incidents|
||on the river.|
||This helps ensure that any river pollution|
||is caught at an early stage and de~it with|
||immediately<br>in order to maintain<br>a healthy|
||biodiversfty<br>within the river and|
||surrounding<br>areas. indirectly<br>the health of|
||the river and its countryside<br>provid'es a|
||wonderful<br>place for people to walk and|
||view the creatures<br>and countryside<br>that|
||surrounds<br>them.|
||4.Public Areas and Nature Pathways|
||Continued<br>coordination<br>ofvolunteers<br>for|
||clearing and maintaining<br>the public a~s|
||and pathways<br>around and through the|
||village, providing<br>circular and cross|
||routes throughout<br>the area. This is|
||achieved by means of;weekly litter|
||picking, grass cutting, hedge|

||management,<br>pathways<br>maintenance,|etc.|
|---|---|---|
||Again a fair amount oftree clearance was||
||carried out throughout<br>the year due to||
||storm and flood damage and ongoing||
||safety maintenance.<br>As a result, this||
||promotes a healthy<br>lifestyle by means|of|
||unhindered<br>walking<br>and providing aclean||
||and safe place to come and relax and||
||enjoy the countryside.||
||S.Second Memoriai Bench (Pocket Park||
||riversidej,||
||Afurther<br>memorial<br>bench isto be funded||
||by a local family, and preparation<br>work|for|
||siting ofthe bench was started after the||
||new stone pathway<br>had been completed.||
||The new bench should be Installed atthe||
||location early in the next financial year.||
||This will provide awonderful<br>view ofthe||
|'|river and wild flower meadow for||
||contemplation<br>arid reflection, by||
||providing<br>somewhere<br>for the public to|sit|
||and rest a while, to recharge their||
||batteries,<br>and improve their mental||
||well-being.||
||6.Car Park Access Restrictions (Pocket||
||Park Suffolk Car Park Entrance)||
||Improvements<br>to the Car Park entrance||
||were made by the introduction<br>oflarge||
||pipe pieces, used as planters for wild||
||flowers,<br>in order to slow vehicle access to||
||and from the area. This makes the area||
||farsafer for the incrmsed<br>numbers<br>of||
||visitors. The Pocket Park has become||
||more widely<br>u~sed because ofthe||
||improvements<br>made and the continued||
||maintenance<br>ofthe areas;||
