Section D Achievements and performance

Summary of the main achievements of the charity during the year

Humanitarian Aid - Life-Saving Food Aids Project for Elderly and Their Families in Taiz, Yemen

Distribution of live saving aid in Yemen continues. The project aims were to provide life-saving food assistance to elderly in Taiz. They are the elderly over the age of sixty-five years amongst the poorest with chronic diseases, with no access to healthy food that can protect them from multiplying diseases they are suffering from.

Distribution of food baskets for which includes sufficient healthy food for each elderly for a full month at once. The number of beneficiaries will be 50 elderly. Providing clean drinking water for elderly for a full month at once.

In the average of 7 members per household, with over 350 beneficiaries for a full month at once. Distribution of food baskets also targeted poor families, who live in small rented shops or rooms in Al-Mudaffar.

Many students in Taiz, Yemen are children, especially those who are in the basic stage, do not find any necessary breakfast when joining their school. Most families in Taiz cannot provide breakfast to their children who sit in schools for several hours with empty stomachs.

Therefore, many families refrain to send their children to schools and exposing children to severe malnutrition. The project aimed to alleviate the suffering of children affected by the war in Taiz by providing the necessary meals for breakfast in a school in Taiz city for 100 children daily.

Additionally, we aimed to alleviate the humanitarian suffering of the most affected families in Taiz by providing Ramadan food baskets, and 10 nonfood items packs for in need families. Activities that the project will provide to the beneficiaries.

Education for Syrian refugee children

Our work in sponsoring Syrian refugee children for school education continues. With the charity support the children have been excelling in their studies. The school has a great standard of education with a comprehensive curriculum and excellent facilities.

Foodbank

STC have been continuing to work tirelessly to make sure that no one goes hungry particularly during the coronavirus pandemic. The pandemic has caused a record 89% increase in the number of families relying on food banks.

A typical food parcel contains cereal or porridge, soup, pasta, rice, pasta sauce, lentils and beans, tinned meat, tinned vegetables, tea or coffee, biscuits, rice pudding or spaghetti hoops tinned fruit, UHT milk and fruit juice.

Qurbani – Malawi – Meat distribution

Access to meat and other protein-based foods is big challenge affecting the rural communities in Malawi. This has been due to effects of climate change. Such situations aggravate the poor living conditions of rural women and children.

After the slaughtering of animals, the meat was distributed to family and friend, the distribution was a huge assistance and generosity to the communities in Malawi, mostly those suffering from intense poverty who very rarely have access to meat and other protein-based foods, with the distribution they had protein food on their tables during the festive season.
