St John's Community Centre, The History Room, 3743 Glengall Grove, London E14 3NE H I STOIITr 1 Charity No:1178684 AGM Annual Re ort- Year to December 2024 In June last year we celebrated 10 years Sin￿ the launch of Friends of Island History and guests at the celebration included Eve Hostetler and Derek Chambers who were instrumental in setting up the Island History Trust in 1985 and putting together the archive collections now hekl at Bancroft Road. Friends of Island History is a Charrtable Trust wrth a Constrtution which sets out the objects of the Trust which are ststed as ' to advance education and public awareness of the social, industrial and political history of the Isle of Dogs through research, compiling of records and leaflets and other publications, arranging lectures, meetings, exhibrtions and other events, and by the establishment and maintenance of an archive containing infomiation, images. artrfacts and photographs,. I hope we are continuing to meet these objectives. In 2024, we held tr¥VO very SUC￿SSfUl Open Days in May and October which were well attended and the open days continue to be popular and will be repeated this year. The next Open Day is on Saturday 1Ph May and Bancroft Road will again have on display sections of the photographic archives. We are also grateful for the continuing support of Reg Beer, Massey Shaw, the Prefab Museum. George Green School and others for their contributions at Open Days. During the year we have supported a number of local events and collaborated with many other local organisations . Debbie, Con Maloney and I have also given talks and presentations at Cubitt Town Library and Canary Vltharf. We have also continued to hold the regular Wednesday meetings of volunteers which. thanks to Marion arKI George, continue to be very popular. The meetings are from 1 pm on Wednesdays. The Group organise outs"ngs, guest speakers and special events. Everyone is welcome to come along on Wednesdays, and we are imrnensely grateful to all the volunteers for their wonderful knowledge of Island History and their continuing contribution to the work of the Trust.

News Letters are being prepared and distributed three times a year. and Debbie also provides monthty in the Dod(lands and East London Advertiser.. We are also gratsful to Carotynne who has been provKling rnonthly bulletins mainly distributed by e-mail which hopefully are keeping everyone up to date with what is going on. I would also like to tske this opportunty to express again our thanks and gratitude to Laura, the Communty Centre Manager. who is a￿ayS incredibly supportive and helpful and we are extremely grateful for all she has done for the Trust. Finally, l am pleased to announce that followiNJ our publication of Con Maloney's very popular book about public houses on the Isle of Dogs, we have just published collection of George Warren's poems compiled by George and Con which will be available on Open Day. We hope to follow this by further publications this year. On behalf of the Trustees.
