This has enabled us to open the History Room to visitors every Wednesday. We held two very successful Open Days in May and October which were woii attended. At the October Open Day we were vety pleased to be able to welcome Jimmy Batten who signed copies of his book, and also to be able to display some our archives held at Bancroft Road. Archive material Will be on show again at our Open Day in October this year. We are also grateful for the continuing support of Reg Beer, Massey Shaw, the Prefab Museum and George Green School for their contributions at Open Days. Open Days this year will be on 11th May and 5th October. During the year we have supported a number of local events and collaboratod with many other local organisations . A list of people and organisations we have Worked with is attached. We have also contributed to talks at Cubttt Town Library and Canary Wharf and I would like in particular to mention Con Maloney whose recent presentations of the film of Queenie Watts at Canary Vvharf attracted a very large audience. We have also continued to hold the regular Wednesday meetings of volunteers which, thanks to Marion and George, rontinue to be very popular. The meetings are from 1pm on Wednesdays. This year the Group organised a visit to Trinity Buoy Wharf and a boat trip from Greenwich to Westminster as well as ￿lebrating Buddy's 90th birthday and enjoying summer and Christmas lunches. More outings are planned for the coming year. The Group has also hosted visits from The Spa￿, Thames 21, students researching Island History and Digiit41 Works who showed their film about the history of Holiday Camps, and they also attended an enjoyable afternoon tea at George Green School to support the students there. Everyone is welcome to come along on Wednesdays, and we are immensely grateful to all the volunteers for their wonderful knowledge of Island History and their continuing contribution to the work of the Trust. News Letters are being prepared twi￿ a year, and you should receive the latest edition shortly. Debbie also provides monthly articles in the Docklands and East London Advertiser and arranged the display in the Community Window of the Newfoundland Building at Canary Wharf to celebrate 40 years of the Island Calendar. Thanks to Carolynne we have also been distributing by e-mail monthly bulletins which hopefully are keeping everyone up to date with what is going on as well as providing some interesting articles. I would also like to take this opportunity to express again our thanks and gratitude to Laura, the Community Centre Manager. who is always incredibly supportive and helpful and we are extremely grateful for all she has done for the Trust. This year marks the 10th Anniversary on the 7th of June of the re-launch of Island History as Friends of Island History Trust and we are planning to hold an afternoon tea on Wednesday 12th June at St John's to ￿lebrate. Details will be confirmed in the Bulletin. Finally, on behalf of the Trustees, I would like to send my best wishes to all our members for their continuing support and companionship and we look fO￿ard to an exciting and enjoyable year to come.
