Objectives and Activities
Barnstaple Lions Club is a voluntary organisation and a member of the International Association of Lions Clubs based in the United States of America.
Barnstaple Lions Club is registered as a Charitable Incorporated Organisation from 6[th] June 2018.
The objective of the Club is to take an active interest in the civic, cultural, social and moral welfare of the community.
Also, to encourage service minded people to serve their community without personal financial reward.
The Club members arrange fund raising events and service activities locally to raise money, it relies on the surpluses made on these events and donations from the public to provide the funds with which to carry out its objectives.
All administrative expenses of the Club are met from subscriptions paid by members.
General Management
The Trustees have followed the general guidance as laid out in our Constitution and By-Laws when dealing with all the activities of the Club.
All grants and business decisions of the Club is ratified by the members.
Financial
The Barnstaple Lions Club manage three bank accounts, for the administration of the Clubs business affairs (International, Multi-District, District and Insurance fees), a fundraising account to promote activities and a further account for the Clubs Charitable donations.
A grant was received from the Barnstaple Town Council of £1,000 for a previous years Picnic in the Park event which had to be cancelled, but this grant was utilised for this years Jubilee Picnic on June 4[th] 2022.
It is the club’s policy to maintain unrestricted funds so that they are available for allocation when required to meet our club objectives for charitable donations.
The Club does not hold any monetary investments or Assets and has no liabilities.
Community Service Activities
The ability of the Club to carry out Community projects is still restrictive but this is now easing and should improve in future.

The distribution of charity grants is generally in the local Barnstaple area with the exception of £80 that was awarded to our District Organisation for their Youth Trust Fund. However, a number of International Appeals by the Lions Clubs International Foundation to help with the funding to support disasters were supported.
