OBJECTIVES AND ACTIVITIES

Objectives and aims

The primary object of the charity is “The relief of street children and young people in poor countries and the UK, who are in need and socially or economic disadvantaged, including but not limited to homelessness, lack of education, ill-health, starvation, child abuse and poor parenting.”

Significant activities

This year we were able to relaunch some activities with street kids in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). For this need we were granted permission by the DRC Christian and Missionary Alliance (CMA) church to use a part of their buildings as premises for our SCRC activities in Kinshasa. This small building was vacant for a long time and needed substantial repairs; we carried out those essential repairs and were able to inaugurate our new centre once premises were secured.

At this Centre in Kinshasa, we help street kids to learn skills such as Information Technologies (IT) skills, handcrafting, etc.

Also, with donations of clothes from the UK we’ve helped young people who no longer live on the street to earn some income for themselves. Activities run by our partners have allowed about 200 young couples to come away from the street with their families; some of those couples have received from us lots of clothes which, now allow them to run small business-stools in the local market.

FINANCIAL REVEW

The accounts are presented within this report; they have not been audited.

We have not been able to carry out any income generating activities this year; a small amount of income was raised through regular donations from some church members.
