OBJECTIVES AND ACTIVITIES

Objectives and aims

The primary object of the charity is “The relief of street children and young people in poor countries and the UK, who are in need and socially or economic disadvantaged, including but not limited to homelessness, lack of education, ill-health, starvation, child abuse and poor parenting.”

Significant activities

Due to COVID-19 we have not been able to carry out activities fully both in the UK and abroad.

Charity Shop

In the UK our Charity shop has been the only one activity we’ve had. We occasionally opened the shop when lockdown restrictions were relaxed by the UK government.

Support from church and the local authority allowed us to pay the rent and the bills.

The Charity Shop has continued playing its social role within the Stevenage community; it has been a lifeline to many people who cannot afford expensive goods. People from the community have carried on responding well by bringing donations to the shop.

We have also received consistent support from the local church, including financial support and provision of premises for the shop and covering the utility bills.

Activities in DR Congo

All activities in DR Congo were suspended and all scheduled travels cancelled due to COVID-19

FINANCIAL REVIEW

The accounts are presented within this report. Given the lockdowns caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, there is limited expenditure in the current year and the accounts have not been audited. Much of the income has been generated by shop income and donations from church members and the local authority.
