Activities, Achievements & Performance
The Annual Show was held on Saturday 15th July 2023. It was a day of very mixed weather with several
heavy showers which Llndoubtedly impacted upon the numbers attending, the extreme rain on the

The Show l?yout saw further revision to provide more exhibitor space and enable visitors to move
around thp showground more easily.
Competitive classes were again well supported including Cattle, Shire Horses. Shetland Ponies, and
Horticulture.
Exhlbitors included a number demonstrating country pursuits and working crafts.
There were also a good variety and number of trade stands.
A number of changes were introduced in the member< area to upgrade the facilities provided to create
more benefits to becoming a member.
The Show Field has been maintained during the year with hedge trlmmln& grass topplng. and
malntenance works carried out.
During the year the Show Field is used to support the local agricultural community by the provlslon of
grazing for sheep. li has a150 been made avallable for rental to local and other organisations. A new
agreement was entered into for the regular hire of the Showground which made a slgnlflcant
contribution to the Society's income. This is expected to be an ongoing arrangement.
As a consequence of a highly successful year, the Soclety achieved a record surplus of £17,708, the
substantial majority of which will be added to reserve5 for future Investment in the further development
and extenslon of the ShovbField Ground
Charitable dorbations of £500 were made during the year.
The Trustees wish to formally express thanks to Lynne Mason, who retired as a Trustee on the l August,
for her contribution to the Society for many years, taking roles on from the Children's sections and
atterly the trade stands, buildlng it up to whal it is today.
