We endeavour to help young players expand their social, physical and mental capabilities, to develop a teamwork ethic and to watch them mature whilst understanding the values of courtesy and respect. We are also providing training sessions to our Pioneers group, approximately 15 – 20 children under 6 years old on a weekly basis. This is all a great testament to the incredible work of our 40 volunteers who coach and manage the teams each week. It also reflects that our reputation continues to grow in the local community – indeed we are still having to put several players on wait lists as most of our squads are full. As a result of this growth, we have now expanded the number of venues that our club uses in the local area – we now play our football at four local schools; Park House School, Trinity School, St Nicolas Junior School, and St Bartholomew’s School plus we use the facilities provided by Newbury Town Council, West Berkshire Council and Boxford Parish Council. This football season has been the first uninterrupted season since the pandemic. Our subscription income has returned to the expected levels, with a non-payment rate of less than 5%. For the next football season (2022/23), we have increased our subscription levels by 12%. This has been done to reflect increased hire costs at two of our most used floodlit venues – Park House School and St Bartholomew’s School. Their increases have been driven by increases in their energy costs. The levels of corporate sponsorship from local and national businesses exceeded our expectations in the last year, with over £5000 received which has been used to refresh match day playing kit and training kits across many of our age groups. Our football club refreshed our safeguarding policies and procedures, in line with English Football Association directives. We have had very few incidents where our Child Welfare Officer has been required to intervene, but we remain vigilant on these matters and will review our policies on an annual basis to ensure that they are still fit for purpose.
