Governing Document

The Charity is constituted as a CIO – FOUNDATION REGISTERED 01 JUNE 2018. It was set up by Mufaro Mapanda as the founding member.

Recruitment of Trustees

New trustees are appointed by the leaders based on their character, experience, and suitability for trusteeship of the charity.

ACHIEVEMENTS AND PERFORMANCE IN YEAR ENDED 31st May 2023

CHARITABLE MISSIONS

HAC supports Zvamaida Primary School in collaboration with the Zimbabwe HAC.

EQUIPMENT DONATIONS, STORAGE AND SHIPMENT

Clothes, Curtains, liquid soap and desks where shipped to Zimbabwe to Zimbabwe upon other things that were donated.

MEETINGS AND EVENTS CONDUCTED IN THE YEAR UNDER REVIEW

Over the year, HAC (UK) engaged in several activities in response to an appeal put forward by the Mayor of Basildon, to tackle loneliness and social isolation amongst the BAME community. These included:

Operating a food pantry within the Basildon area which provided special dietary foods for mainly refugees and diverse community groups within the Basildon area. HAC (UK) was partnered by a major food retail brand and the Essex Association of local councils.

A cooking project was run by HAC (UK) to provide the BAME community with an opportunity to learn how to make quick affordable meals. Upon completion, the participants were given air fryers and healthy new cooking recipes. The project was funded by Essex Active.

In May 2023, a function for the Kings Coronation was held by HAC (UK) utilising a grant from the National Lottery. The grant was used to buy food, hire entertainers (i.e. face painters, Tale of southern), buy a gazebo and chairs.

REPORT OF TRUSTEES

Statement of Trustees’ Responsibilities.

The trustees are required to prepare a trustees report and financial statements for each financial year in accordance with applicable law and UK accounting standards, which give true and fair view of the state of affairs of the charity and the incoming resources and application of resources, including the net income or expenditure, of the charity for the year in preparing those financial statements, the trustees are required to.

Reserves policy.

As the charity has no fixed commitments the trustees will reinvest any unrestricted funds in the furtherance of the charitable objectives.

Notes to the accounts

With reference to the *discrepancy between total funds brought forward from the year ending May-2022 and the total funds carried forward from the year ending May-2022: Please note we identified a mistake was made in the 2021/2022 year accounts. There was omission of donations (£2258.58) and expenditure on charitable activities (£1076.25) that were made in April 2021 and an omission on donations (£1,150) and expenditure on charitable activities (£148.8) in May 2021. This affected the balance that was carried forward from the £1221.11 (reported) to £3404.6 (actual) which matches the balance that is in the Bank Statement.

A breakdown of expenditure per project is included in the Statement of Financial Activities.

Accounting policies

The financial statements have been prepared under the historical cost convention in accordance with Financial Reporting Standard for Smaller Entities (effective April 2008), the Company's Act 2006 and the Charities Accounts Statement of Recommended Practice (SORP) "Accounting and Reporting for Charities" published in 2005. The particular accounting policies adopted are detailed below. There have been no changes in accounting policies.
