The Charity maintain5 Its validation and recognition as a creative arts organisation, working wtth the
comtnunity at large. Fach year the Chartty commits to working with marginalised groups within the
area. It operates and maintains a w¢bsit¢ and social medi&
Over the last 12 months we have continued working in partnership with local organisations,
including
Neath Port Talbot Youth Services
YMCA
South Wales Poliee
South Wal¢$ PoRiee Cadets
Port Talbot Youth Theatre
After a successful 12 week pilot our free youth theatre resumed in September 2022, with two
new tutors. The venue continued to be Ysgol Cwn Brombil. until April 2023: when we
moved to the new community hub 'The New Plaza,
Moving the youth theatre from Ysgol Cwryn Brombil to The New Plaza offered several
b¢n¢fits, including-
Improved Facilities and Professional Environment". The N¢w Playa has better facilities,
prot"essional lighting, sound systems, and seating arrangements tailored for perforniances.
This ￿'OUld elevate the overall experience for both perfonners and audiences, giving the
youth a Lqste of perforn]ing in a professional venue.
Inereased Visibility and Accessibility." A public venue like The Ne￿ Plaza is moTe
accessible to a broader audience, attraciing people beyond the school community. This will
help boost the youth theatre s profile and bring in more supwrters, leading to larger
audiences and potentially more funding OPFK)rtunities.
Community Engagement: The New Pla7a is likely Tnore central and integrated into the
community compared to a school setting. This encourages greater participation from local
residents and other community groups. helping to build stronger connections and fostering a
sense of belonging among the youth involved.
EnhaD¢ed Learning Experience: Perforniing in a profc5sional vcnu¢ provides a more
realistic theatre experience. Youth members can learn how to adapt to different perfonnance
spaces, work with industry-standard ¢quiptnenL and interact with professional staff, helping
them develop practical skills that would be valuable for future opwrtunities in the arts.
Dedicated Spaee for Creative Expression: Unlike a school environmenL The New Plaza is
exelusively focused on arts and perforniance, creating an atmosphere where creativity can
thrive without the distractions and limitations of a school setting.
